Give Reshade a try if you have been reluctant!

I remember the reshade fixes for P3D, there were a group of them and many looked worse then the other. I like the way MSFS looks, and I am staying away from trying to fix it.

This... and I find everything, in RESHADE, is too dark compared to real life, where terrain, buildings and structures blend more softly!

Heh, it's clear the people most opposed to ReShade, don't even have the first clue what it is or the functions of it.

I don't even know how people can be opposed to something that is optional.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

YES 🙂 Enter the home key to open the reshade overlay. Then go to the settings tab. At the top you see overlay key (home) and effect toggle key (don't know what the default is). I've changed to overlay 7 and effect 6 but just choose something that makes sense to you and doesn't conflict too much with MSFS key binds.

Thank you!  Worked perfectly.  This FinalLight preset is amazing...never realized how yellow and green the default sim is.....

Doesn't that depend on your monitor settings?

MSFS looks perfect to my eyes on my setup out-of-the-box.

Always the case, unfortunately. People love having strong opinions against something, lol.

I personally don't prefer Reshade but it's good. I certainly use it for other games.

Intel Core i7 8700k clocked to 4.6GHz, GTX1080Ti, 32GB DDR4 RAM, MSFS installed on NVMe drive, Windows 11, Dell 27" 60Hz Monitor + Dell 24" 60Hz Monitor. Resolution 1920x1080. Game Mode on, GPU scheduling enabled (Win11). MSFS settings: High-End for airlines, Ultra for GA.

I may have to ditch using Reshade as of today I just cannot sim as the simulator is so unstable.  Accessing menus in flight or even at times at the start can trigger a solid black screen of slow flashing between black and a low resolution full screen texture.  I paused the sim earlier too and it was locked screen when unpaused.  Seriously dont want to not be able to use it as the benefits are there to see, far sharper scenery and aircraft which look blurred when you disable it, and that is at 4K.  Yellow and green colour tints are also removed.  Going to restart and just run the regular exe to start the sim rather than the batch file and test for an hour.  Maybe I should try an older nVidia driver and go back to one from May which I was using until a few days ago?  I might also test with just the FinalLight.fx and remove the Lumasharpen one.

Chris, I recommend you remove reshade then reinstall from scratch this way: https://youtu.be/wMmDc8S4bJg. I cured my stability issues. It's very important to tick the boxes in the D3D11 tab at the end. Everything else is the same in terms of adding shaders and textures to the UWP folder, creating your own .ini etc.

Where do you get that installer from?  I have been using the ReshadeInjectUWP with FinalLight from Flightsim.to and followed the instructions.

https://flightsim.to/file/20557/finallight-reshade-preset-realistic-colors-and-tone-fixes

There is no installer as such and it only comes with the FinalLight.fx and ini files.  Files are simply copied into my User folder and the FS2020-Reshade-STARTUP.bat file is on my desktop.  Running this as an Admin starts reshade and also the sim.  To get the additional effects like Lumasharp I installed "ReShade_Setup_5.3.0.exe" into another app so that I could select its exe file. This created shaders and textures folders. I did select the DX11 option when installing those shaders. I then copied the Lumasharpen across to the FinalLight folder.  I should say I am running the MS Store version so cannot install the normal way.

Just follow the instructions in the youtube video. I used reshade via FinalLight and it caused me a lot of problems. This other approach is not complicated, just follow the video step by step.

Same here. This other method is also for MS store.

I will try to find it, I did watch your video thanks though it clearly has an exe file whereas the Flightsim.to injector is just a zip file and instructions on where to place the files on your system. I did a quick test there now with Reshade not enabled and could flick in and out of menus and change graphical settings like LOD.  Was a brief test but it didnt crash.

The method in the video uses an .exe in order to create a .bat file for MSFS then creates a ReShadeUWP folder. Not sure why ReShade in this way has been more stable for me - perhaps a different version? So I wouldn't update reshade after you install. I did and the instability returned.

I have downloaded the exe and started the process.  I am wondering does it install a reshade.dll anywhere?  Where are shader and texture folders installed and can you add or update the fx files?  The FinalLight stuff was updated a few days ago.

Do YOU find everything in ReShade too dark, or are you just looking at users pictures?
