Where are shader and texture folders installed and can you add or update the fx files? The FinalLight stuff was updated a few days ago. Detailed instructions here: https://github.com/MilkyDeveloper/ReshadeForUWP#text-instructions The shaders, textures and reshade.dll are in %USERPROFILE%\ReshadeInjectUWP. I found the folder last night and also options in the Reshade menu to assign the shader and texture folders. I did a quick test with the FinalLight and Lumasharp enabled and could change settings a number of times without a crash. Was brief as it was very late so will try better now. I do notice the dll file is a lot older so I will attempt a switch later for the newer one and test. Thanks for the links above I will save those. In that case I would make a backup so you can revert if necessary. I overwrote it with the latest release and my issues returned. Remember - FinalLight has the latest .dll which could have been a cause of the issues. And I suggest the settings in the D3D11 tab as they seem important for stability (at the end of the video i linked to). Also - the latest version does not seem to have a D3D11 tab. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Thanks, yes I was going to make a backup. I see a new version of Reshade came out yesterday. The dll you linked to is 4.9.1.2 and the one FinalLight included was 5.3.0.1556. The change notes on FinalLight say its also DX12 compatible which is perhaps why the DX11 button no longer exists. https://reshade.me/ Chris Chris Ibbotson AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3D / MSI AMD MPG x670E Carbon Motherboard / Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5090 Gaming OC 32GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card / Corsair DOMINATOR Titanium RGB Grey 64GB 6000MHz AMD EXPO DDR5 / NZXT C1200 Gold ATX 3.1 - Fully Modular Low-Noise PC Gaming Power Supply - 1200 Watts - 80 PLUS Gold / 48” UltraGear™ UHD 4K OLED Gaming Monitor / 40" Philips 4K LED Monitor / Honeycomb Alpha Yoke / Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant / WinWing Orion Rudder Pedals c/w dampener / WinWing Ursa Minor Airline Joystick / WinWing Airbus MCDU

I had a look in the shaders list here but could not see adaptive sharpen or magic bloom... Thanks! That link you posted to crosire's GitHub. Theres a link in there, this one: https://github.com/crosire/reshade-shaders/archive/master.zip In there you will find Adaptive Sharpen, Magic Bloom, Colourfulness, Vibrance etc. In fact theres 72 effects in there. Although for MSFS you will only need 16 or so and out of those you will find you only use 5 or 6. I recommend making presets for different parts of the world. For example flying over tropical islands, rainforests etc ramp up colour and vibrance to bring out the greens Over snow and desert the magic bloom and ambient light filters give a nice glare/glow/haze effect Whereas at night you want to disable magic bloom as it gives a very distracting halo effect on airplane displays and the menu also. Night is when the sharpen filters work great to give city and road lights some punch on a clear night. Edited September 1, 20223 yr by ThrottleUp

September 2, 20223 yr Guys, if you're using Lumasharpen and you're in SU10 beta, remember to turn AMD FidelityFX sharpening off. I just realized I had mine on. As I turned it off I had to crank up the Lumasharpen strength to 200. Using a sharpening limit of 0.070 and getting pretty fine details. I have tried all the other sharpening shaders but still find LumaSharpen.fx the best for MSFS. I have ditched FinalLight as the colour correction was too strong on my system, despite tuning the settings downwards (was the reason my screenshots had a red tint). I found PD80_04_Color_Balance.fx does a very good job. It has settings for shadows, midtones and highlights. Highlights : Increasing Yellow <--> Blue to tone down the yellow tint, which also increases the blue sky colour. Midtones : Reducing Magenta <--> Green & Yellow <--> Blue helps with ground texture colour by removing lime greens. I used a colour picker tool to test many greys in different places to remove any tints and get white/greys perfect. a little increase in colour with the Colourfulness.fx shader, plus LumaSharpen, is all that is required for a balanced image. The following image was taken in HDR, so duller than it was on screen, but hopefully nobody sees a red tint! . September 8, 20223 yr I'm starting to realize that DLSS might give better image quality than TAA. I know, it's meant as an performance-enhancing, AI upscaling technique. And I know, a lot of people will say "it's pointless with a 3090". Which is probably true, from a performance point of view. But I've been using DLSS for nearly two months now in the SU10 beta, and I'm getting more and more convinced that the image quality in fact is better than native resolution with TAA. I'm running 4K so with DLSS I'm in reality running upscaled 1440p. The only drawback that I can see is ghosting on speedtapes etc. Which is reduced in the latest beta. So why am I talking about this in the ReShade thread? Because using DLSS in combination with Lumasharpen brings razor sharp image quality with few visual artifacts. When tuned correctly i.e. being careful not to oversharpen. Make sure to turn off sharpening in usercfg.opt, as well as AMD FidelityFX sharpening in the graphics menu. It sort of makes sense that DLSS can produce decent image quality, although it depends hugely on the game you're playing, from what I've read. DLSS has some very advanced machine learning features that strives to make the image quality as good as possible. Obviously Asobo has managed a good implementation. All object edges look nice and sharp - and things like foliage looks really good. Here's a site with some decent info on DLSS: https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/everything-you-need-to-know-about-nvidias-rtx-dlss-technology/ And finally of course some screenshots 😄 Edited September 8, 20223 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
September 8, 20223 yr Has anyone been having CTD's with ReShade? I started noticing instability once I installed it and I was using the 'FinalLigh't mod. I was definitely having issues when exiting fullscreen to access Simbrief or other apps. It definitely did not seem to like that at all. I then started getting a purple screen while in-sim. Once I uninstalled ReShade everything was back to normal and no issues at all since. That lighting mod looked great though. I am back messing around now with the Freestyle filters to try to get a similar tone... Eric i9-12900k, RTX 5070ti OC, 32GB ddr5 5600 RAM, 2TB 980 Pro SSD, Titan 240RX AIO, Samsung CRG90 49", Win 11

It’s likely that ReShade might have been one of the culprits for my CTDs, perhaps in combination with other factors. After changing the reshade version from the one included with FinalLight’s mod to an earlier version, my system has been more stable. If it’s of any interest I’ll dig up the method I used. And by the way, in the latest beta and the sim frequently freezes when alt-tabbing to other windows. Not sure if it’s related or if reshade has anything to do with it. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

September 9, 20223 yr @Cpt_Piett Nice! DLSS isn't a waste of time in my view. They need to fix the ghosting on the tapes and the slightly blurry flat screens (although neither are too bad), but I have a 3080Ti, and at 4k ultra settings DX11, the card runs really cool and quiet. (running at 40% and saving lots of energy! ) I am really pleased with it. Silky smooth without any stutters. I never thought I would ever see this performance from a flight sim at 4k. New Nvidia drivers are on the way for MSFS as well, hopefully next week. I may even transition to DX12 after that. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.
