September 11, 20223 yr Just throwing out another Grassmonkey endorsement. Works the same way as TIR, though much more affordable considering it is "active tracking" and does not have wires. You do still wear the sensors which I use the included velcro pieces to my headset, but I'm typically wearing my headset while flying anyway so I don't even notice it. Solid unit made by a solid guy and is very smooth for me. - Aaron

I use it with IL-2 as a perfect compliment to my VR setup (VR is definitely great in IL2 and I just experienced the rear gunner position in the new ME-410 today, wow what a work of art!). Works perfect! Thank you for the tip!
September 13, 20223 yr I watched a few videos and it looks like Tobii feels more like you're moving the camera with your eyes (non linear) in comparison to TrackIR where it feels more like you're actually looking around moving your head (linear). For me, TrackIR feels more realistic. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
September 16, 20223 yr Author So far so good, but I'm struggling being able to setup the ability to lean forward or to the sides to see the wings for example and find myself using a lot of mouse wheel zooming. The head tracking is working great though and I'm happy the wires and the clip are gone. Can anyone help on the leaning forward and to the side sensitivity? I can't go anything more above 0.15 on the head tracking position setting, otherwise the view for me is outside the cockpit. Jacek G. September 16, 20223 yr Haven't started setup yet, but just wanted to post that I am in Hawaii, ordered from Tobii in Sweden on the 10th and it arrived on the 14th. I find that amazing, as many US mainland companies seem to be unable to figure out how to get stuff to us in Hawaii. scott s. .

I haven't research beyond it because I own just for a week. LOL But for what it worth I didn't have to freeze it! All camera position keys are still work like before. If I need close up to something I just press SHIFT 1-9 and teleport to the location as before I just received my Tobii 5. I have a question about placement. I mount my yoke and position my rudder pedals somewhat left of my monitor's center. That so to better simulate sitting in the left seat of the virtual cockpit. My nose when looking straight ahead is approximately 6 inches left of the center of my 27" flat screen monitor. Should I mount the Tobii 5 off center to match, or should I disregard my sitting position and mount the Tobii at the center of the monitor? Within MSFS there is a setting in the sensitivity options for the Tobii called "head tracking sensitivity: position" which is 0 by default. Just put it up to 1 or so. This is head position forward/back/side to side. Not sure why it's off be default. Is this the setting you say you have at 0.15 and if it is higher your head is or moves outside the cockpit? Have you made sure to put a key binding to center or reset eye tracking? You'll need to get situated in your normal seating position and reset the tracking so it's centered. 9800X3D | 5090 | 64GB DDR5 | LG C2 42"

My understanding that you should mount tobii at the center of your position. However, box come with vertical clip mount, which is by design is off center and attached on side of monitor. So I'm not sure if my recommendation would be correct one! I would ask tech support - they are very quick for response. Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). I think maybe devise a temp mount because the glue on the adjustable one that comes with the device is darn strong. My guess is that when you do the calibration in the "experience" app, that will account for off-centerness (the initial vertical line calibration should set the mount position relative to monitor, then the eye "field test" should allow for the relative eye position, within limits. Maybe the sensitivity across the entire monitor width might change some. But I think maybe some duct tape to hold it in place for a quick test would confirm for you one way or the other. scott s. .

Given the VC camera is typically positioned towards the left of the cockpit, what benefit is there in artificially positioning yourself to the left of the monitor? The only exception I could contemplate would be if you are using a very large screen with a custom view putting you directly in the centre of the cockpit.
