4080 16GB for me. I cant justify the extra cost of the 4090 when the performance chart looks almost identical in the Nividia press release in MSFS. Is the 3090Ti a better deal or not?

A good friend has his sights on a 4080 16GB to retire his 2080S.  Hope his 9900k build can handle it.  He's a solid G2 VR flight sim junkie and can't wait to get better than the 20 fps he gets now.  With my 3080 ti FTW3 I get 45 fps with my G2.  Other than being able to use ultra clouds, vs high, I see no point in a 4090/4080 upgrade.  Currently running DLSS Quality and 100% render scale, it is smooth and looks fantastic, given the limits of G2 VR.

I have a 3090 so I'm not getting one. Even if I didn't have a 3090, I still wouldn't get one.

I'd buy a used 3090 off some sucker who's upgrading from a 3090 to 4090. 😛😂

Because MS2020 is CPU bound, I plan on upgrading to AMD Ryzen 9 - 7950X as soon as they become available here in Auckland NZ 🙂

Ordering a car for 90k is money well spent. As long as it’s a decent car. You only live once. I bought two 👀👀😳

I like your style. If you can afford it and appreciate it, go nuts I say.

+1 for a 4090 day one, I hope. I really fear they won't have enough brick and mortar supply.

I changed my mind. Anyone wanna buy a used 3090? 🤣

You can have it for 2000 bucks. I paid  2700 bucks for it a couple years ago!

I've got my eye on a 4070 12Gb, with PSU and CPU upgrade too. I currently have a 1060 6Gb so am anticipating a pleasing improvement and this seems a reasonable balance of cost v performance.

It's a massive upgrade for sure from that config. Not sure about price/performance, but you are most certainly not going to be disappointed with raw performance

We got a electric clipper about 7 years ago.  Granted, I'm mostly bald lol, it's saved me tons of money.  We also cut my boy's hair with it hehe.

I totally understand the owners of the 3xxx series GPUs and not being able to justify the spend. We know you still want the 4xxx series, don’t lie to yourselves.

I have a 3090, zero interest. Absolutely zero.

You should really wait for the X3D series and see if these will excel in the sim as the 5800X3D does.

And for the present, that says so much!  I currently employ an RTX 3080 12GB and will sit on the sidelines observing Asobo's future moves, which at this point are highly unpredictible!

I just grabbed a deeply discounted 3080, mostly because I was convinced my AMD card was causing CTDs... sim is running and looking good, and no CTDS.
