Yup with a new DDR5 13900K system. All ready on pre order, just gotta add the 4090.

If you already gave a 3080Ti or higher, I can't see it helping.

Ai and LOD is very much CPU limited, especially on the ground.

At 4K I'm still CPU limited on the ground even with DLSS.

A 4090 will be overkill with current CPUs unless maybe you're using realky wide resolutions that add up to massive Ks !

I’m running MSFS on a super ultra wide at 32;9 so I guess that makes the 4090 more justifiable for me!

I'm in. If anyone comes across pre-orders, let me know please. I can't find any retailers that do so far.

The only sign of a preorder that I've see so far is B&H Photo in NYC.  They are a brick and mortar store. They are listing,  "Preorder starts at 12am ET, Wed Oct 12"

I've done business with them online multiple times,  over the course of more than a decade.

They have been 100% reputable,  and they've always shipped asap.   If you sign up to be notified they often drop the notifications a little before they hit the site.

Myself, I'd like to find one of the water cooled examples.

Be aware of your cases length, the card is massive.

My EVGA 2080ti Black Edition,   next to my Asus Strix 3090.   I thought it was big.  The Strix 4090 is 360mm long!   (14.17 inches)

Yes, best combo, will make exactly the same

Intel Core i9-13900K | ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING OC 24GB | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | DDR5 64GB 6000-30 Trident Z5 RGB | Corsair ICUE H170i Elite Capellix RGB | Corsair 7000D Airflow ASUS ROG Thor Platinum II 1200 Watt | Samsung SSD 990 Pro NVMe M.2 2TB & 1TB | Alienware AW3423DW | Asus ROG Swift PG279Q 27" Gaming Monitor | VKB-Sim Gladiator Mk.II | Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant Airbus Edition

A GPU which costs 2000$ blowing 500w heat into the case just to be CPU limited in MSFS?

Nope.

I'm finally getting a new system after 7 years.  The supplier for the guy who's building it for me is receiving 200 RTX4090 units next week so getting one should not be a problem.  We'll figure out the manufacturer when he gets the pricing.  The other components are:

2 x SK hynix Platinum 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen4 M.2 SSD
2 x G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB Series 32GB
Samsung 870 QVO 4TB
MSI MAG Z690 Tomahawk
Intel Core i9-12900K 5.2 GHz Unlocked
Corsair RMx Series 1000 W Power Supply
Fractal Design Meshify 2
Liquid CPU cooler

Looking forward to getting it all assembled next week.

And I thought I am stupid by ordering a car for 90k. Seems there are even worse ways to burn money 🙂

Who is the builder? Might want to check that 1000W is enough to power it....

SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

If you are on a single 4k screen the 4090 is going to be wild unnecessary overkill.   Even three 1080p monitors you are just flushing your money when you can get a 3090 or 3090ti and be smooth as silk on Ultra.  If you are someone who must use TAA b/c you don't like the avionics you will hit the CPU limit before you surpass what the 3090ti can do.  If you use DLSS then maybe 3.0 will allow you to go bonkers with AI but even then I wouldn't hold your breath and if AI is worth $1,600 to you that's cool, but yeah it's $1,600 for some more AI and maybe a more consistent TLOD of 400.  So if you want the big time performance gains where it matters most you need DLSS 3.0 and it's AI frames, but you will lose avionics clarity have a lighter wallet considering DLSS with a 3090 easily churns out 60 FPS if the GPU is the bottleneck.  If you are a TAA guy you are still stuck at 50 FPS because it's a CPU issue.  A 3090 on my 4k TV with DLSS already cruises at 60 FPS if I offload the CPU a little (by that I mean 300/200 light AI).  On an ultrawide 3840x1600 it hits 75 FPS with DLSS.  DLSS 3.0 will probably allow me to get a consistent 60 FPS in 4k with lots of AI and a 400 TLOD but geez.  I get 40-45 FPS right now doing that, but it remains to be seen how well DLSS 3.0 will work.  Maybe that will off load the CPU enough so it only needs to produce 30 FPS in that scenario and double it to 60 FPS.  That seems like a lot of unknowns for $1,600 plus tax, plus probably a couple hundred over MSRP.   I don't see the path to smooth stutter free panning, taxi and take off at a fully loaded JFK on the ground.  It will be the same experience as the 3090 unless DLSS 3.0 delivers something. That's a $2,000 gamble as a new adopter.

I just don't see any reasonable scenario that doesn't lead to disappointment that isn't VR related.  Varjo Aero owners and I believe G2 owners have the strongest case for finding value.  The Varjo Aero's top resolution is 8k.  Currently with DLSS on that top resolution you can have an amazing experience around 30-33 FPS.  Getting that to 45 FPS, or maybe 50 FPS because the 4090 can handle the extra pixels could be a huge improvement.  DLSS 3.0 is a big if in VR though, but on paper it has some serious potential.  Even if it fails to deliver with the AI generated frames you would still get to benefit because only in VR are you severely GPU limited with a 3090.

Ordering a car for 90k is money well spent. As long as it’s a decent car. You only live once. I bought two 👀👀😳

Where is the creditcard of my wife? I really need to find it……..

4090 Strix is even longer and it wouldn't fit into Corsiar's 5000D for example
