Has the wheeled version been updated? Because it needs to be. I can't see any patch for it?

Just go to your Downloads and ignore the date listed for the Kodiak update.  Download and you will see the file date is 10/10/2022

I'm finding the floats version is a real bear to get in the air.  (I'm a poet don't ya know it?!).

That's understandable somewhat at least, due to the floats weight and drag.  I only have one pax and it's really right at seal level.  Wonder if I can even takeoff from a mountain lake.

So you should update the wheeled version first then purchase the add on version?

The Floatiak installer gives two options: stand-alone contains everything and can run without the wheeliak. Add-on requires the (updated) wheeliak to work properly. The latter is a space-saver because it onl

y requires about 500MB down from 3.6GB that the full one needs.

Check the manual for take-off technique with the floats. You should unstick from the water at about 55-60KIAS. Once out of the water, stay just over it in ground effect and accelerate to 73kts and then you can pull up. During the take-off swim keep the yoke pulled and as you're starting to get up slowly relax it as required.

A slight tailwind will add a lot of extra airspeed required to take-off, so keep a good eye on the wind. There's also another bug in MSFS where sometimes, if you start from cold and dark the plane cannot achieve max torque. This is because MSFS ignores the inertial separator switch and starts with it extended, leading to a torque reduction. To add insult to injury, the real Kodiak looses about 50ft-lbs of torque with it open. In MSFS that torque loss is much more than that, I think you'll lose at least 100ft-lbs and it is hard-coded.

Sorry for the rushed response, I'm trying to catch up with everyone.

Too bad there’s no hardware that really supports beta or reverse in a realistic way with a real axis.

I must say that x-plane does give the best option for programming beta in the throttles, I'd love to see MSFS do the same some day.

There's your issue right there. You need to get out of the water before you gain any height. Also, don't eat too many fish as that will slow you down! 😀

Ok you're right I forgot all about that - getting on the step and staying IGE for a little bit.  Been a while since we had a decent float plane.

First time I flew a C 182 on floats, I was trying to pull the nose up to rotate as we were taking off , the owner of the plabe said " don't do that, or will never get off the water, because the back of the flaots will just dig into the water and act like a brake. Just let it fly off by itself.

I forgot, does the updater install over the top or do you remove it from the community folder first?

I just installed mine over the top.  I did grab the wheeled update (the link says it's old but it's really new once you DL it).  Then for the floats I just did the addon install

I just asked the developer and he said to be safe, remove the old one first.
