If you don't own the wheeled version, you pay full price on the float version. ( I would think the discount works both ways, but don't quote me on that. ) Understood, but the full price for the amphibian version is still half the price of the wheeled version.

I wonder why they've priced them that way - a bit unusual. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org
October 14, 20223 yr Author On Simworks Facebook page today: After a rather eventful release of the Kodiak's, we are happy to say that a hotfix is in testing for most of the reported bugs. First of all, flight performance: since SU8 the engine performance has changed in game, while our engine has been the same. This resulted in a thrust reduction, which has been corrected. The clean plane flies close to the published numbers again, but we will flight test it a bit more. Another important issue was users having problems with their control profiles under the new control scheme for the throttle. A small change in the code makes the plane compatible with Axes and Oh's and SPAD.NEXT. This has been verified and documentation has been adjusted accordingly. Also, dry motoring the engine is now much more efficient, and you can cool down the engine much faster. Lastly, a couple of users noticed some inoperative lights in the aircraft. The effects have been restored and will be part of the hotfix. The hotfix will be issued by Monday on SWS and other stores. Release time will depend on each store's schedule.

I wonder if this fix also works for FSUIPC7 which, like Axes and Oh's and SPAD.NEXT, has a throttle control problem with the recent Kodiak release? Al Edited October 14, 20223 yr by ark
October 14, 20223 yr I was wondering the same about FSUIPC, I would love to be able to use the entire throttle range. Dave Current System (Running at 4k): ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F, Ryzen 7800X3D, RTX 5090, 55" Samsung Q80T, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, EVGA CLC 280mm AIO Cooler, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & Stick, Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant & Add-on, VirtualFly Ruddo+, TQ6+ and Yoko+, GoFlight MCP-PRO and EFIS, Skalarki FCU and MCDU
October 15, 20223 yr Commercial Member Gents, the hotfix is in final testing. I wanted to let you know early that the upcoming version will no longer make use of the L:var we had at 1.3.3 and those of you that use FSUIPC/SPAD/vJoy/AAO can revert back to your previous configurations. Users of the Airbus throttle will find that it works normally again. We are doing final checks and will have it out as soon as we see all is fine. We also fixed the bad climbing performance, it climbs again like back in December. The other fixes aren't as important, but these I had to share with you in advance. October 15, 20223 yr The propeller mechanics seems somewhat simplified on the Kodiak Float version... Right now when shutting down the engine, the propeller always stay in flat pitch, regardless if the propeller lever is moved into feathered position before shut-down. The real life Kodiak Float version comes with option propeller pitch latches (see description further down. This means, that if You set the power leve rto ground idle, propeller lever to feather and shut down the engine by moving the condition lever to cut-off, the propeller should feather. Right now this doesn´t happen - the propeller stays in flat pitch. In real life for this to happen, You should move the power lever into reverse in order to activate the pitch latches, with propeller lever full forward and then shut-down the engine, moving the condition lever into cut-off. Here is an excerpt from the real manual: OPTIONAL PITCH LATCH PROPELLER For water operations, it is undesirable to feather the propeller when the engine is stopped after landing the aircraft. If the engine is subsequently started with the propeller in the feathered position, residual thrust complicates docking and handling of the aircraft. To prevent feathering the propeller as during normal engine shutdown, the propeller incorporates spring-energized latch pins, called auto high pitch stop units. Two units are installed on the propeller cylinder. When the propeller RPM is approximately 800 or above, centrifugal force disengages the latch pins from the piston allowing it to move as needed between the reverse and feather stops. When the RPM falls below this value, a spring in each auto high pitch stop unit overcomes the centrifugal force on the latch pin, causing it to retract into the cylinder and engage the piston, preventing it from moving in the feather direction. To engage the stop units upon engine shutdown, the propeller control must be placed into the reverse thrust position before stopping the engine. Upon stopping, a large spring in the propeller moves it toward the feathered position, but as the RPM decays below approximately 800, the retracted latch pins engage the piston, preventing the propeller from feathering. Upon starting the engine, the propeller is already in flat pitch. What little thrust is generated while starting the engine does not present a handling problem for the aircraft. To disengage the latches before taxi and flight, the power lever must be placed momentarily in the reverse thrust position while at low power. This removes the lateral friction force from the latch pins and prevents them from being damaged by application of power. After adding sufficient power to advance the RPM above 800, the latch pins move to an outward position and remain there, allowing full control of the propeller. Being the original coder of the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended for FSX and P3D, I added this feature, at least visually animated. For the MSFS Aerosoft Twin Otter though alot of the engine features that was in the FSX/P3D version, was not carried over to the MSFS version unfortunately. October 16, 20223 yr Great. One more reason not to keep buying from the marketplace. Who knows when it will get updated? Also, I get screwed on the discount.

Also, I get screwed on the discount. On that front, we were planning a combo version for MP but decided to hold back. I saw in the SU11 SDK that bundles will be natively possible when it is out. So we will hold off until SU11, when we will prepare a proper bundle that will allow appropriate discounting for buyers of the wheeliak or floatiak.
