interestingly I just did another quick hop EDDM-LOWI and the Fenix panels were alright including AP dials... well,...

on my side it has the issues you described above. AP Panel not working properly and the glass displays also go crazy after some time... DX12

DA-40NGX Mod definitely handles better on the ground.  In the air at altitude in the Himalayas it is much more challenging...not sure if thats the new CFD, atmospheric modeling or just me...

Ah ok.. looked at that mod and its flight_model.cfg and it does have these defined which probably explains the better ground handling:
     ground_crosswind_effect_max_speed = -150
     ground_crosswind_effect_zero_speed = -150
     ground_high_speed_steeringwheel_static_friction_scalar = 1
     ground_high_speed_otherwheel_static_friction_scalar = 1

I also see it has local CFD enabled in its FM, which combined with the new SU11 atmospheric airflow modelling probably results in better overall aerodynamics.
     CFD_EnableSimulation = 1
     CFD_ReinjectBody = 1
     CFD_AirViscosity = 0.05
     CFD_AirInCompressibility = 1
     CFD_VoxelSizeScale = 1
     CFD_VoxelNbVoxels = 20
     CFD_GroundCollisionVoxelOffset = 0.1

Yup, there’s some excellent freeware modded aircraft with CFD-enabled flight models. The DA62X, G36 Bonanza, Savage Grravel, Vertigo.

yep, seems to be a DX12 topic, reverting back to DX11 now

i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

I'm having what appears to be an issue with Dx12 with the SU11 update, so I have reverted back to Dx11 and TAA for the time being, along with the new 522 driver. A couple of freezing and subsequent CTD's using Dx12 along with experimenting with the different AA settings have forced me to drop Dx12 use for now. If I experience another CTD I will revert to the previous driver and wait for the next updates before going forward again with the new changes.

On another note I am seeing what appears to be a bluish cast to the scenery with SU11 that I haven't noticed before. Don't know what is causing this yet but I don't like it, does not look good. Could be the new driver, if I need to revert to an older driver I'll see if there is indeed a difference.

Been doing some benchmarking. Flight from KAVX-KLAX (air distance 32nm) with an ILS approach to 24L. Live weather with a heavy low cloud coverage:

Wind 260° 12kt. Visibility 10sm. Clouds few 2600ft, few 3500ft, broken 4100ft.

Graphics settings: DX12, 4K, DLSS quality, volumetric clouds high, TLOD 150

In addition I had RealTraffic running which added to the punishment. And iniBuild's scenery. And Henrik Nielsen's ships, lol.

roZJTdo.jpg

On the ground I got 22-29 fps with a MainThread of 33-43ms. The good thing though with DX12 is that even though the fps are low, it's overall relatively smooth. I guess that's because of higher 1% lows vs DX11.

9ToBYnc.jpg

The benchmark from CapFrameX shows how the fps plummets as I get closer to LAX, lol 😂

Normally I get very good performance in DX12. But this is one of the situations where current hardware can't keep up. Perhaps a 5800X3D would perform better in similar scenarios.

Oh well. Always on the hunt for better performance...

I suggest better wait for the 7900x3D or Metro Lake. Can't wait to see your results for same scenario next week in case king has shipped your 4090. brace for impact?

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

what Hotkey do you use for capture? I was wondering which might not yet be in use by MSFS.

I just randomly chose 7 on the numpad, and deactivated whatever that did in MSFS.

do you mean FSLTL? if so: while I was parked at KSMO Santa Monica, my fps were similarly as low as yours in KLAX, with no ground traffic observed at KSMO. is there a way to reduce and store such FSLTL settings in a CFG file without having to go to the CMD window each and every time? I would like to reduce the FSLTL traffic range down to a bare minimum, around 10 nm range, with 10 on the ground traffic and 2-3 in- and outbound will have to suffice for me. no DLSS 3.0 will come to our rescue here, only new CPUs can mitigate this, hopefully some 30% "honest" fps increase coming from an upgrade from i9900K to 4.7 GHz.

btw: I see a new avsim subforum coming: benchmarking DLSS 3.0 with CapFramX 😀

No I'm testing RealTraffic/PSXT for a month while in the beta. Since FSLTL got nerfed/borked due to some simconnect issues. And I found it hard to deal with all the pointy noses with default real-time online traffic.

You mean the silent start option? Just add this line:

Quote

"silent":"yes",

to the .json file, anywhere within the file. File is found here: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\fsltl-trafic-injector

It should end up looking something like this:

Quote

{"silent":"yes","ifraircraftlimit":85,"vfraircraftlimit":0,"staticaircraftlimit":0,"spawnradius":50,"secstilremove":30,"flightplannerdbapikey":"6Lh3Bc5lG8mb2J0N9WUoV2VZQ2tdBGnFcrTnqioZ","nofallback":"Yes","modeloveride":"","consoledebug":"","fshudport":19786,"silent":""}

Or - you could probably just put in a yes after silent: at the end...

I use the smallest radius, 50km I think it is. IFR 85 is probably way too high for KLAX though but it works fine in most places.

Yeah, from what we've read recently here on Avsim DLSS 3.0 is not the holy grail...

7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Summary on my installation.

in WU 10: DX 11 works perfectly, DX 12 has issues (including stuttering).

in WU 11: DX 11 has bad stutters in dense scenery. DX 12 smooth, no stutters.

As long as I'm in DX12, then WU 11 is better in almost every way than WU 10.

I'm going back on forth between WU 10 and 11. No need to reinstall the sim for me. As long as I delete (i.e. move) these folders FS-base-ui-pages and FS-base from Official right after reverting to WU 10 (= no need to redownload whole sim). Takes me 10 minutes (a 7 GB update at 'searching for updates').

FS-base-ui-pages restores ability to choose depart, arrive, & FLY in main map (50 MB)

FS-base brings back the proper and non-limited world map (7 GB).

I learned how in #19 and #31 here:

Yeah, DX12 seems to be more optimized in SU11 with the newest nVidia driver. Actually I was able to briefly test the driver just before SU11 and it didn't provide the same results. It's something with the combination SU11+DX12+GRD.

That's good to know! I didn't dare to swap back and forth between SU10 and 11 (like I did with SU9 and 10) since there were reports of people having to do a complete reinstall.

After reverting back to WU10 be sure to immediately boot up MSFS, that way MSFS is now officially at the WU 10 version level. But at that point you won't  be able to FLY and have a goofy looking world map. So close MSFS, remove those 2 folders, and then boot up MSFS again. MS will now see you're in version SU10 and will rebuild the 2 folders with the proper WU 10 versions and everything is cool. No need to redownload the sim.

No need to do any of that when going from WU 10 to WU 11 (beta).
