Sim Update 11 beta will begin October 12

I  have steam version. By 'reverting', I mean Steam library/ MSFS / properties / beta and choose WU 11 beta.

Then boot up MSFS, close it down, remove the 2 folders, reboot MSFS. Done.

If you remove the 2 folders right after reverting before booting MSFS, then MSFS will think you are still in version WU 11 and restore the same versions you just removed, which is not what you want.

Okay installed the beta.  So far so good. FS2 seems to work okay. Seems just as blurry as DLSS.  Still testing.

Rob, in the beta I get stutters every flight near upgraded airports when in DX 11 (but not in DX 12). But I don't hear many reports of bad stutters in DX 11 from anybody else, it seems.

And I found it hard to deal with all the pointy noses with default real-time online traffic.

Hi @Cpt_Piett

I did what Corsten recommended here and I don't see any pointy noses now when using live traffic with FSLTL. If the livery or model isn't found it will fall back to the model you chose. But if there isn't a livery for it, it will pick up a random one (still better than a pointy nose, IMO). I also see some planes with blank liveries, but no pointy noses. I used the B738 folder.

Thanks, I'll look into it. RealTraffic is not too bad, but of course has it's drawbacks too.

no DLSS 3.0 will come to our rescue here, only new CPUs can mitigate this, hopefully some 30% "honest" fps increase coming from an upgrade from i9900K to 4.7 GHz.

Is it safe to opt in the beta now ? After having read the CTD issues with the planes ?

A beta is never "safe". This is why it's called a beta.

If you want safe, stick with the stable version.

People tend to confuse beta with "getting free word not allowed ahead of everyone else."

I was not talking about the R9 7950x,  but 7950x3D. and neither about 13900K, but the new Metro Lake generation, finally 7 nm for Intel. those 2 will be the new most powerful competitors for my next pc build. the MSFS anniversary edition will have to carry me through the next 4-6 months of impatience. price difference is not my main concern, considering the next generation of VR headsets based on Sony's new micro-Oled (Varjo Aero or better) may add yet another $ 1.000- $ 2.000 😊

Normally I get very good performance in DX12. But this is one of the situations where current hardware can't keep up. Perhaps a 5800X3D would perform better in similar scenarios.

Oh well. Always on the hunt for better performance...

Some strange results on that slide.  The 12900KS is that much better than the 12900K?  And even the 12700K showing better that the 12900K?

And I understand the 1080p resolution is there to put load on the CPU rather than the GPU for the sake of the test, but real life would probably be 2k or 4k resolution for most serious simmers, so I wonder how that would affect things?  A big leveller I reckon.

No doubt the X3D chips with the high cache levels are the way to go though. I can't wait to see some AMD 7 series X3D benchmarks eventually.  They should be superb.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Su11 Beta.

Start the flight in LSZH with 50 FPS and ending on approach at LFSB at 4 FPS.

Try to turn off and back on AI traffic when FPS drops. I read somewhere that this could help.

Will try.

It also happened to me since yesterday

flew from KBOS to KJFK no extreme drop. Did Calgary to Vancouver and back again, no extreme FPS drop.

So it's not happening to everyone.
