Always thought folks with a Liberal Arts degree were very liberal with the amount of paint they spread around with their brushes.   Now I understand that they are qualified to say " Ya want fries with that?" 🤔

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱

Hey Charlie, I resemble that remark! My MDiv and ThD have proven very useful. Why with those two liberal degrees I can get a cup of Starbucks coffee for only about $6!  🤫

This kinda reminds me of my High School yearbook where all of the Seniors list their activities, clubs, and desired colleges under their class pictures.  They also included what they wanted to study.  I would say a good amount of folks were choosing a Liberal Arts degree and most of the girls were choosing to be a hair stylist or IBM keypunch operator.  I was no where near what I thought of.  For me, it was the Navy and electronics, thus the ATR-2 rating.

I don't know. I have a degree in philosophy and I've found the mental formation I received from that helps me discern all the marketing BS Nvidia put out about how great the 4090 is from the truth.

What's wrong with getting a degree that allows one to think?  Or go to graduate school?  Or specialize in one particular degree.

Well back in the day when I told my mother I was going back to college she was happy. When she asked me what I intended to study, I said Philosophy. with shock she said, "what are you going to do with that?" It's a legitimate common sense concern. As the cartoon in the OP indicated. 😁

There are two kinds of Philosophy students. The ones who are driven by a desire to tackle the ancient and still not generally answered profound questions about being. For example, Why is there something instead of nothing? The other Kind of Philosophy student is the one who was inculcated in classical scholarship from an early age. The first typically gets it out of their system and departs the academy with at BA or MA going on to make positive contributions to society in whatever way they cross its path. That's the kind I am! 😁 The other kind usually goes on to get a PHD or two and eventually tenure in some university and spends their life being jealous of "ordinary" people and spends their career undermining all the norms of civil interaction in society at large with the intention of undermining everything. In other words they are a pretty destructive group bent on remaking the world in their own image.😝

Although my degrees are in Economics and Accounting, the two philosophy classes I had were amongst the best classes I ever took.

Liberal Arts Colleges have the highest rates of Nobel Prize winning alumni, but who wants to let facts get in the way of making fun of philosophy majors? 🙄

Interesting read for those of you quick on the draw to downplay the value of certain degrees.

Indeed.

OP's argument is a pretty low-effort dig but it brought him joy at least... 😉
