The FS Realistic update is out!

Before folks make a thousand new threads about it!

I do not understand how to use it. If I press the tutorial button nothing happens, same thing if I define and then use the 'Toggle button'..

Tutorial did not work for me either, it is playing but cannot hear anything.  I finely was able to toggle first person mode by defining the toggle button to an unused button on my yoke instead of a keyboard shortcut.  They need to explain setup better in the manual.

What is a good unused keyboard toggle that won't conflict with something else?

I've been waiting for something like this for a while and really appreciate the effort that went into implementing something like this.

There is one major flaw with this currently though - it doesn't remember where you switched it off. Ideally, you should be able to walk up the stairs to the plane, go into the cockpit and toggle this functionality to effectively "sit down" in the pilot's seat. Then you take off, reach cruise, toggle it back on and walk around the cabin. That would be amazing for something like the DC-6 - you can get up, look out the astro dome and take some shots to figure out where you are. Or just, you know, simulate going to the bathroom.

Currently, however, if you toggle first person mode it takes you to the same initial spot. I hope something like above is coming eventually.

I definitely wont be using the 3rd-person view. Looks ghastly.....

My antialiasing seems to be a bit off in walk-around mode.  Is it a know issue?  I saw a mention of slightly jaggie textures somewhere but now I can't find it.

Good news is that my screen freeze on mouse movement is working again.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

It would be nice if we had a proper walk-around function one day. By „proper“ I mean that you can climb stairs, can‘t walk through walls and objects and climb into seats (e.g. like in Star Citizen). For such an addon I‘d be prepared to open my wallet.

I know the FS Realistic walk-around mode is still experimental and only a small part of the addon. Also, I’m sure there are some sim limitations, otherwise someone would have probably already made such a mod. So this not intended as criticism.

interesting Interview with Jorg Neuman (sadly only in german) where he talks about the future. In Minute 8:10min he talks about that people wants to walk away from the airplane and walk around, and that he wants to implement it in the Future 🙂

Yes, you'll get image/antialiasing degradation the moment you switch to walk mode.

It's a known issue and limit of the MSFS SDK the devs are aware of.

The info states that you are better using TAA rather than DLSS (if applic)  - I switched to TAA and most of the jaggies disappeared.

I had a walk around the Fenix A320 with the APU running last night with this new Fsrealistic feature and it was ok obviously cud be improved but as I walked towards the back of the plane it was just silent, I couldn’t hear the APU at all…why wud that be? If I zoomed around in drone mode then you cud hear it no problem…so I can’t weigh that one up!
