FSLTL?

Featured Replies

Can it still be used?

I tried it last night in San Francisco and it kind of worked.  As I taxied around I heard invisible jets at the end of the runway.  So I decided to just taxi around and saw a lot of planes taking off normally and a few landing.  There wasn't any noticeable FPS hit.

I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on using it in the latest version, I'm not running an MSFS beta.

Advice?  Should I still use it?  Are they working on an update as I haven't seen any news about it.

Thanks.

Jack

I use it the way it is. I get full gates and outbound traffic with occasional landing here and there. Better than a stick in the eye.

I get a CTD whenever I use it.  I'm not using the Beta version of MSFS.

That's odd, I haven't gotten a CTD at all.  I wonder why this is happening to you.

Are you using it with the free worldwide shipping traffic?  Apparently there is now a problem with having too many objects or .bgl files I believe.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Works fine for me. The one thing to remember is that it's live traffic. I fly in Europe a lot so if I'm going to have a lot of traffic I have to fly in the morning. I live in Texas so the time difference is an issue.

That's interesting. Where did you hear that?  I would be interested in following that story.

Yes 🙂

The MSFS AI changes in SU11 brought with it issues for AIG and FSLTL. Basically AI aircraft will use the first alphabetical STAR for an airport. This often leads to AI not being able to find their way to the airport and thus eventually being "terminated". Kaii over at AIG has been in dialogue with Asobo over the issue. Apparently this is something that has to be fixed by Asobo, if I understand things correctly. There were no planned AI changes to the current post-SU11 beta (mostly A310 changes), so perhaps the changes will come in SU12.

I'm using it right now on a Fenix flight from YVR to SFO (at FL370 with a tail wind of 120kts lol). Settings will depend on CPU / mainthread processing power. I'm using IFR85 VFR0 parked (static) 1 and a radius of 50. And removal time of 120. Works well.

TL;DR: There will be a lot less landing AI aircraft with FSLTL but it's perfectly usable apart from this.

I'm also running a TLOD of 150 to prevent the mainthread being to hammered at major hubs.

I'm not using default ATC though as I've had a lot of issues with it post-SU11. Anyone being able to use ATC successfully?

If we're talking about Henrik Nielsen's GAIST, I haven't been able to use the full package from SU11 onwards (CTD on flight load). I've split up the package into regions (NA, EU etc).

That sounds odd. I have had no issues with it nor I have heard of others with the problems you mentioned

I had that problem too and had to do the same as Cpt_Piett. Guess you've not been reading the GAIST thread, the dev himself advised us to create folders by regions to overcome that.

Hi Jack,

I've been using FSLTL in conjunction with AI Ground & AI Flow, and it has performed above my expectations considering they are freeware.

AI Ground and AI Flow enhance the AI capabilities -> they are available here: (not that I am involved in any way shape or form with these products)

Much appreciated.  Some of this stuff is above my "pay grade".  I just want to stick with FSLTL and it doesn't matter to me how realistic it is, I just didn't like to be the only one in the entire world flying. 🙂
