Is it safe to run the installer over top of a good install?

Yes it is, no problem.

Undercarriage lever a bit sticky was it, Sir?

I'm having the same issue with the injector. I press start and the black command box appears for a second and then disappears again so the injector never launches.

I've uninstalled the Json file, taken the Gaist add on out, updated ++ and uninstalled and reinstalled the injector a few times with the same issue present.

I did notice last week on my last flight that the injector would load up and begin injecting but no aircraft would be injected into the sim, now the command box is not even appearing. Strange.

Any ideas would be appreciated as I think the add-on is immense!

@JimBrown After removing the .json file, it indeed works, so thank you again.
I already discovered that I must not visit the big airports without tuning down the traffic. My FPS goes down like crazy. 🙂

I wonder what portion of impact goes to parked aircraft versus moving live traffic.

Okay it's looking more hopeful now since I found the DEFAULT number of parked aircraft maximum was set to 2000.  Set that back to 20, IFR to 10, VFR to 4 and coming into KSEA perf was decent.  To put the % versus max number to rest:

  • IFR Aircraft - Sets the overall amount of IFR traffic ( number is actual number of aircraft )
  • VFR Aircraft - Sets the amount of VFR traffic ( number is actual number of aircraft )

The % idea came probably from this:  if that max number is set to 0, then this:

Disable IFR flights by entering 0. This value is then proportioned to air and ground traffic based on your altitude (AGL):

  • user on the ground - 50% for air, 50% for on the ground

  • user above 10000ft - 75% for air, 25% for on the ground

  • user above 20000ft - 100% for air, 0% for on the ground

And this re max number of parked:  when I opened -config.json the default was set to 2000, so I changed it to 20.

To add the absolute maximum value for Parked Aircraft at each airport e.g. below will limit each airport to at most 20 static parked:

  • "staticaircraftlimitmax":20

Why use parked at all? Those are just static aircraft that occupy gates but never move. I use IFR 60, VFR 2 and Parked 0.

Aircraft parked at gates aren't always on FR24.  Adds to the realism...especially at smaller airports.

I'd rather have more static and less moving based on an assumption moving are more resource hungry.

Yes, of course it matters.. Set it up for what you require from your system. Even IFR at 6 with NO VFR and NO parked traffic, at SFO I get over 40 ai in the area. If that is too much of a hit then maybe your settings are too high. For my system, I see maybe a 4-10 fps drop at that setting but that is simply the cost of having good AI.

Hi Dave, I have been looking at your comment for several days and each time I find myself just staring at it for a bit.  I just have to ask, what do you mean by 'IFR at 6"?  Is that a typo?  I assumed you are setting the your max IFR aircraft at 6 and 0 VFR/Parked, but if that is the case you would never see 40 ai, you would see 6 max.  That is the way I understand it at least.

I am having this same issue.  Comes up showing MSFS is steam version and then just closes right after.  Nothing in the log.  It was working fine before I updated to 1.3.2.  Frustrating.

How about GAIST? That adds a tremendous amount of sim objects.

Nope, not using GAIST.  I can see planes in the injector screen en-route to the airport but then they either go around or just suddenly says as shown below (in this case I've now tried YSSY (Sydney)

08:33:36   JST401  - A320 - VH-VGP  @ YBCG -> YSSY| id 6409  | Counts IFR-A..8:G.14 VFR..0 | Enroute to Kingsford Smith Intl at 3900ft IFR, 21km remaining
08:33:37   JST401  - A320 - VH-VGP  @ YBCG -> YSSY| id 6409  | Counts IFR-A..8:G.14 VFR..0 | Enroute parked by sim as close to destination

Not sure if this is something: using AI Companion to monitor the traffic that is being injected by FSLTL I sometimes see a very large number (several dozen) of AI waiting to be initialised, usually GA and generic models (even though I have these set as disabled). These aicraft never materialise but their number keeps growing. I am aware that the reporting in AI Companion may be unreliable, but I have not seen this behavior before until now.

That is how I understood it as well, but then after Noel started mentioning using such low numbers, I tried it as well just to experiment.

So yes, IFR 6, VFR 0, injection radius 50km and 0 parked.
Loading at LAX and instantly I count 11 ai at LAX with more coming, and then whatever else there is in the 50km radius. So, I'm not sure how it works.

Now back to my PSXT where traffic parks and behaves like they should. 😉

FSLTL Injector v1.3.2 now available for update from the FBW installer.

SU11 Specific Workarounds

* Sound workaround that forces the N1/N2 to 35%/60% respectively while AI is taxiing. This is still fighting with Adobo's 100% values so you may get a subtle variation in sound but much better than when at 100%.

* Traffic close to airports should now land without going back to the STAR transition. They will all follow vectors by ATC. This is close to the SU10 experience with respect to landing volume.

General Improvements

* Injector had been rewritten to optimise the code base and ease maintenance, plus removing the dependency on simconnect.dll.

* Improved start up time to injection, with less of a wait until the first plane is injected.

* Parking space counts for static aircraft are now dynamic based on the scenery in the sim - so this will correctly include parking from 3rd party scenery.

* Substantial matching improvements for model matching

* VFR traffic now use waypoints for navigation and will track alt, heading, speed close to FR24. (They still do not land)

Known issues

* Altitude on approach may be wrong and cause go arounds. This is particularly bad when MSFS is using the incorrect runway direction compared to real life. This is an SU11 change that is yet to be resolved.

* Aircraft on approach climb before circling to land, this is an SU11 change that is yet to be resolved.

* If you are using GSX Pro and have invisible AI aircraft, this is because GSX pushed too many sim objects into the sim hitting the fixed limit. Make sure you disable the ‘Extra ground clutter’ option in the GSX installer to help with this.

Further improvements are in the works with respect to SID / STAR usage.
