December 29, 20223 yr I purchased this a couple of days ago from the Marketplace and the operations center says version 2.0.41 is installed, but 2.0.42 is "pending". From what I can tell that update has been out for quite some time and I do not see any updates in the sim for it. Is it not available for marketplace buyers? - Aaron

They sent it to the marketplace as well. It takes a while for Microsoft to get the updates verified and released. You can update the plane through the operations center. I bought my DC-6 in the marketplace and was able to update it in the operations center.

December 30, 20223 yr Interestingly about two hours later the update showed up in the Marketplace. She is a beautiful bird that's for sure. - Aaron

Remembers me of the time RSR said in the 737 manual that the HUD flight path symbol would be fixed shortly, nothing for months and some guy on flightsim.to fixed it in a couple of days. Will they ever be able to finish the 737EFB for 2023? Now I have serious doubt. I'm not a dev, but there is a difference between a "workaround" playing on config files and a source code revising, the second requires much more time and work. Notoriously PMDG has very long times for their planes and patches, and I think that it's a very small team despite their inflated announcements. The DC-6 is an almost abandonware, it seems that they are not working seriously on this beautiful old glory. Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

Meanwhile I'd rather fly it "old-style"... when a sextant was the closest you could have to a GPS 🙂 You could be interested in the Boeing 247D if you want 'Radar Range', the system before ADF was started. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. February 13, 20233 yr We talk about almost forgotten PMDG bird ( at least forgotten by creators, but not by users ), and now we have B247D which is a perfect example of real abandonware 🙂 Artur
February 13, 20233 yr with the current update (.46) if flies perfectly for me. GPS screen is fully used, Autopilot follows GPS or VOR quite good. You are using the WT GNS430 I suppose. I'm finding difficulties with the old Bendix radios, I have to switch back to the GNS and back again to the Bendix. But the ILS doesn't work anymore. February 13, 20233 yr I love the PMDG DC-6. In fact, the only reason I bought MSFS2020 is that the DC-6 wouldn't run without it. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

I love the Boeings and Busses but for the sheer visceral simulation of flight in this simulator that is simply superb below 10k, the Douglas DC-6 is unparalleled. I can fly other transports in “monitor mode” from SID to STAR, but in this old girl, I’m constantly monitoring temps, tweaking Cowl Flaps, planning my drift angle, re-planning for error, tuning the next ADF or VOR, and calculating and re-calculating when I start down from the exalted height of 9000 feet. I don’t pull more than 10 BMEP every 5 minutes, and very seldom get below 100BMEP, so judicious long flat segments are imperative for bleeding energy. Every flight is a genuine delight and accomplishment, and every shutdown leaves me with a satisfied grin. I have flown her around the globe more times than I care to admit… recreating routes from Nevil Shute or Ernie Gann. Places like Cox’s Bazaar, Bahrain, Baraaka and in my suspended state even Dham Ree Phong are all intimately familiar. I have seen Monument Valley at glare shield level and felt very small. I have passed the Pyramids, Ghaza, the Taj Mahal and Victoria Falls. I have delighted in the Northern Lights and the Southern Cross. All while managing this magnificent creation with the exultation of Ali Baba encountering his Magic Carpet for the first time. Yes, she’s special to me! C Best- Carl Avari-Cooper
