CIGI support is only available in the Professional Plus edition of Prepar3d at present, so it's absolutely true that to get this support from LM you have to license Pro Plus. It's possible LM could choose to release the functionality for the Professional edition, but unlikely as these kinds of features intended primarily for commercial sim builders have always been in the Pro Plus edition only.

This needn't stop someone else building a gateway to interface P3D with the Blackshark UE world generator, of course. It ought to be technically possible.

It’s interesting they didn’t have to sign an exclusive for msfs.

Smart on blackshark’s part. Lots of money to be made outside of just flight sims.

Why would they? Its far easier to approach a company that already has the assets in place instead of building a new scenery generator from the ground up. Think of it as Swissport or Menzies at your local airport offering ground handling to multiple airlines. The airline puts out a tender and the contractor who offeres the best bid wins, but its not exclusive.

Why would they require an exclusive?  Because I would think they can. A massive budget game. So trade off could be worth it. Not to mention Microsoft often requires this sort of contractual relationship. In m surprised they didn’t say something like you can use this technology, just not in any kind of competing product. That kind of deal. Either way seems pretty cool for us to potentially have more options

Microsoft may have requested it, but Blackshark may have denied that request. I rather like the sound of that

I like the sounds of that too.  But I'm sure they are not the only company in that space.

doesn't mean MSFS cannot use it.. or other platforms for an instance.

You misunderstand me, Raul. I just mean that it is nice to think that Blackshark would not licence this technology for use by a single entity.

That would be suicidal considering what they just achieved haha.

I have a question regarding Blackshark AI:

The AI in their name suggests that their terrain rendering process incorporates some form of AI, but what does this mean exactly?  Does their process actually learn to render the terrain and 3d objects more accurately over time?  Has anyone noticed if MSFS has gotten better at choosing the correct vegetation and buildings and putting them in the right location?

Thanks.

Dave
