One scenario is that after a few thousand more people are using it, the servers will be so overloaded with Xbox kids, that the sim will be unusable. Even now, people are being switched to the offline mode. Also, when's the last time you saw any v5 scenery updates from Orbx, Flight Beam, Imaginesim, or any of the other big-name developers? It has basically come to a screeching halt. If you like v5, I would suggest enjoying it because I honestly believe it's the last version. Even if v6 does materialize, I'm not going to shell out another $200+ for something that will probably be ignored by the developers. Again, just an opinion, so no stupid comments please. There will be a V6, regardless of what msfs does. I didn’t realize that was even being debated. Don’t forget that we as casual simmers are not Lockheed’s target customers. December 7, 20223 yr There are new add-ons on a monthly basis - just look down a few threads. Concerning the frequency of releases, I'd really like to see a comprehensive statistic for the last few years, rather than rely on gut feelings and forum opinions that eventually turn into “facts“ (not referring to anyone here), but something reliable is unlikely to exist. Regarding new P3D versions: I'm sure they will come, and that we will see a v6, though maybe not as the next version. Personally, I'm fine with evolutionary changes, so as to be able to keep using my add-ons. December 7, 20223 yr It seems odd that LM would go with UE5 for the visuals but not create a new platform for realistic flight models. One would have thought that given their involvement in the military simulations world they would cater to realistic flight and weapons modelling rather than play around with eye candy. If MS ever wraps it's head around opening the SDK and allowing modifications to the flight modelling I don't think UE5 or any other graphics smoke and mirrors trick will help LM / P3Dv.x. If they rebrand the other flight sim, reduce all the included aircrafts and airports to the bare minimum, make it hard to mange addons with annoying XML and make the menus from 2000s, it will be a hard core sim (TM) and this forum will be hailing for it 😄 AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display

I don't think MSFG will suffer from overloaded servers, but the corporate accountants may decide that providing all this bandwidth is not economical. P3D v6 is already in Beta. LM have long-term commercial customers who make their product profitable, MS do not, at least yet. Taxi2Gate announced updated scenery this week:Taxi2Gate Releases Pointe-à-Pitre for P3D - FSElite MSFG release a new v5 airport last Sunday. The MD-11 has been announced recently by TDFI and it appears that the first 1,000 pre-release collector's edition versions have already sold. FSLabs are promising Concorde in Q1 next year.

Even though I spend time with XP & MSFS I still come back toP3d as it has great weather, aircraft, so many addons, and the best weather radar of the three. I am hoping for V5 addons to be able to function in V6. V6 - yes I will be a customer. I started simming back in the 1980s, flew in the RW for 40 years, retired several years back. Always enjoyed simming from the early versions to what it has evolved into today. I used sims for years to prepare for 6/12 month training sessions/rides. Looking forward to V6.
December 10, 20223 yr Author I'm aware that this topic was already discussed, but it seems many didn't get the connection between P3D's CIGI and Blackshark.ai and that could be implemented by anyone (3rd party vendors), not just Lockheed Martin ... and it could happen today, for P3D V5.3.

Ofc it may be possible, but only if you have bought the professional plus version at... $2500, hands up if you have a licence for that version...anyone?
