anti aliasing mess not getting fixed?

Featured Replies

Odd that so many have this broken AA, apparently only on Nvidia cards - yet even LR doesn't respond to queries, nor has any blog posts regarding it. It is so god aweful looking on my 3070 , I can't bare it anymore, and performance on XP12 with add-on aircraft performane suffers at times like sunset / sunrise etc... certain airports with lighting crater FR. Even before FS2020 was born I'd say this AA issue is a show stopper. But now after 2 plus years of a perfectly desinged AA simulation, XP12 really looks horrible. I had recently wrtitten Austin Meyer an email asking about the AA issue and he answered me very rapidly, not sure exactly what the issue was. Stuttering got fixed after Beta ended... so XP12 has no stuttering anymore at least on my system , but FR slowdowns and the horrible graphics with no AA support... I honestly think they can not fix it... becuased they released the official XP12 with Anti-Aliasing that looks like something from 2002. I am very disgusted.

They either respond to the bug reports, or take them on board and will address them in one of the updates.

This was fixed in the latest beta.

Austin gets countless emails on a daily basis.  He needs to keep his replies short so he can answer as many as he can, and then get back to work.

Based on what?

Kind of a stretch.  I can post a comparison between something from 2002 and XP12 if you wish.  I already did it in another thread, and the person I replied to didn't have a response.

Thank goodness you have other options.  Aerofly.  Flight Gear.  MSFS.

Hey @JETPETER2,

Yeah, AA has had some issues in XP12. There's a few instances depending on scenery and weather that cause the AA process to essentially stop working (in simplest terms). When this acts up the AA does look awful, I agree!

I worked with Ben Supnik about a week ago on pinpointing this issue and Laminar has got a handle on why/where it's happening now after we ran numerous tests. Not sure when the fix for it will be implemented, because as it stands it's not trivial, but it will be fixed now that we know where it's going wrong.

And exactly that is the reply that is worth to get upvoted. Many thanks for that and keeping me and others faithfully waiting to get xp12 to a level it deserves. Refreshing in a lot of nonsense posted usually as a reply.

Cheers T.

Hi,

Got tired of playing with AA and AF and went the DSL way. I just put a video up showing my stutters are just about gone and I get better looking jaggies.

Can you explain what "the DSL way" is? I only see "DSR" in the NVIDIA-settings but perhaps i am missing something. Another question: why are you changing your general NVIDIA-settings and not the Nvidia-profile only for XP (programm settings)?

Hi,

Misspelled on my end DSR is correct. I've now received word from 1080 and 2080 users that they have seen an improvement. I believe it comes from the shader cache change to unlimited. This is months in the testing and I'm still not done with all the combo/settings. But these have far exceeded anything else I've tested so I decided to share them. Didn't take long for the click-bate responses from the kiddies, but I could care less, if it helps just one (and it already has), it was worth the effort. Besides helping myself. hahahaha

I'll give these settings a try thank you.

Today I uninstalled MSFS after 2000 hours use - not because its a poor simulator, far from it, but XP12 has hit a higher sweet spot for me.  Yes there are issues remaining to be solved, but the good points far outweigh those for me.  Posts like these suggesting settings help to mitigate items like the AA until LR address them are constructive and welcomed.

Sorry I am not understanding. Can you post a picture of your NVIDIA Control Panel / Manage 3D Setting.

I am seeing two DSR option.

DSR - Factors

DSR - Smoothness

Is this the setting you modified and totally turn off AA in XP12?

Edit : I am watching the video and pausing it and getting your setting.  I am all good.

Hi,

I went back to game drivers and i'm using the latest ones from Nvidia. A few more great reviews have come in about these settings. They look good!

I can see the DSR settings in the standard nVidia drivers.
