FS Traffic released!

Can you use these sort of programs without using ATC?

Yes but you may need to use the "clear traffic" option that normally comes with them if you end up really close to one on final or something.

But then again, you will need to do that using the dreadful ATC anyway.

From AIG to....never mind, I'm happy with AIG.

You and me both. It's been serving me well for many years.

I think I’m going to wait until after the next SU release from Asobo.

It seems that all AI programs are suffering due to the issues with the core software. I would like to see how they work once/if some of the issues are fixed.

Exactly. All of the AI traffic options available do exactly the same thing. They install airplanes (models), textures (liveries), and flight plans (schedules). No matter which of the options you choose, the internal MSFS AI engine ends up managing them. AIG's Traffic Controller does a very good job, though. It does crash every so often, so I do need to restart it from time to time. It's constantly being improved, and I'm patient, so....

I just really wish that Asobo could find a way to put all the processes related to AI on a different core or something to get it out of the main thread. I'd love to see some of the 83% of my CPU that is not being used by MSFS while I am flying get used for something useful. It's clearly an excellent candidate for that.

Once airborne the traffic feels almost non-existent.

That’s because it was non existent 🙂 (referring to ATC). It’s in the manual in the known issues section.

Seems to me that sums it up. But imo FSLTL gives less grief.

To me, hitting enter after FSLTL auto-starts is a better example of set and forget.

Don't even have to do that, you can bypass the prompt in FSLTL.

With the news today that Flybe - a UK small airline - has gone into administration are users able to remove its flights and aircraft from the package if they wish to?

AIG has already marked it as Defunct which will allow users to remove it from that package.

Isn't that the 2nd time in like 10 years that this happened to Flybe?

Yes and very unfortunate. I’ve flown on their Dash 8 from Manchester to Jersey a few times.

Yes you can. From within the FS Traffic Control Centre. You do have to do it manually though, I am going through it now but it is possible.

That’s very wise of them to make this possible. I don’t have FST or MSFS but I’ve used UTL in P3D and this kind of thing wasn’t possible if I recall correctly.

I posted this at the official forums and am posting it here in case it helps.  If not (or too much work), please disregard:

For those who have it working but desire to see aircraft parked at airports along your route and/or GA traffic, here’s something to try (I plan on experimenting with this myself):

For aircraft at airports along your route: provided you have FSLTL, you could fire that up while at your gate, ensuring parked aircraft is set to ‘0’. Since you’re using FS Traffic for your actual traffic, set the traffic settings within FSLTL to 0. Once airborne, open up the FSLTL menu in your toolbar and reset the parked aircraft value to your preference. I believe it should populate your airports with parked aircraft as you fly over them. Set back to 0 at some point in your approach to your destination airport.

For GA traffic, I’m guessing you could use one of the following in tandem with FS Traffic:
a) Phantom’s GA traffic mod at flightsim.to
b) Simflea’s GA traffic mod at simmarket
c) FSLTL’s VFR traffic setting

Just a thought and perhaps some options.

So in short, FSTraffic is like Aerosoft‘s Simple Traffic but with actual 3D models (though only a very limited amount of variants) and better liveries?

No.  Simple Traffic doesn’t require you to tell the sim where you’re going.   If I fly Luton to Gatwick then Heathrow is full of planes enroute.  Simple Traffic doesn’t make the sim hang when returning to main window.  Simple Traffic doesn’t require you to empty an AppsData folder to make it work.  Simple Traffic provides traffic in the air as you go about your flight.  Simple Traffic was sold as “Simple Traffic”.  It’s not pretty but 100 times better than what Just Flight have released.

JustFlight have done a good job in the models but everything else is lacking and i’m gobsmacked they’ve released this in the state it is.

Their marketing makes no mention of these restrictions - obviously as had they done so no one would have bought it.

Loganair next. Small regional UK carriers cannot survive because the airports and the government make it impossible. for them. It costs a small fortune to park at Exeter airport and then there's the tax to pay just to get on a plane.

I’m not getting into politics but I understand it was the jets that made life difficult for Flybe. Maybe they should have stayed with the Dash-8.
