February 2, 20233 yr I'm curious whether the frame-generation of the 4000 cards works on all programs, or just programs specifically designed to use it? For example, if I'm using YouTube TV to stream my TV programming, can I perhaps get 120 fps while watching the Super Bowl -- for a smoother visual experience? I have one on order, and I just wanted to confirm that with the 4090, it is recommended to have HAGS turned ON. Can some current 4090 users confirm or deny this? You actually need to have it on for frame generation to work. In the case of the 4090 HAGS is what allows it to do it’s magic.

Unless of course you turn on frame generation on the 4090, then your FPS will double. Easy as that... Thanks for mentioning something which I have been curious about for a while... I have considered an upgrade from 3090 to 4090 but question what this might achieve in terms of fps improvement given that with my current spec I get «limited by main thread» and this is on a high-end system purchased only 12 months ago (see system spec) i9-12900K 3.20GHz | Z690 Hero | 64Gb DDR5 5200MHz | RTX3090 O24G | 2TB Firecuda 530 M.2 | RM1000x | H170i ELITE | Corsair 7000D | Samsung Neo G9 | TrackIR | ButtKicker | HC Bravo | TM TCA Boeing Yoke & TCA Sidestick | TM TPR Pedals | Logitech Multi/Radio Panels | WinWing FCU1/EFIS/MCDU/PAP3MAG/PFP3N/PFP7 | Win 10 | MSFS 2024 | (rev. 08/2025)

The 35 FPS provided by the 3090 will be 15-25% better using a 4090 WITHOUT using FG. So roughly speaking, using FG you'd be looking at 80FPS. Without it you'd be looking at 40 ish FPS.
