Sounds great. I used it when it originally came out but didn't like how the radius of Google textures appears in a circle around your viewpoint and doesn't blend with the colour of the Bing textures. Have they increased the LOD in the new version or can you still clearly see where the Google textures end and Bing offline begins?

I think when the mod is active, there are no Bing textures, they are all from Google, but I may be wrong. To me it looks great everywhere I look. Hey it's free try it..

Im running a year old free versjon and it loads MSFS for me.

No problems when using the ARCGIS server.

No point to the paid version that I can see.

Google Map radius is not good at all if we compare with that of MSFS by default which is not very good either but much better.

Major european cities also suffer from completely contrasting tile colors,Paris,London,Brussels, Hamburg etc....

The only thing that pleases those who try it for the first time is the color of the more realistic groun and better road network quality.

Lol, pay for an MSFS hack made by a chinese user that Microsoft can stop anytime they want? No thanks.

Also, it is no good for flying over water, squares with different colors everywhere.

What I don't get is some people saying they wouldn't use that Stripr app because it was an hack and saying Microsoft was probably "concerned" about that but they use this. Odd.

Not talking about the problems it gave to many, with crashes, infinite update screens when starting FS because they forgot to remove the hosts files entries when uninstalling, etc.

I'd say stay away.

How can Microsoft stop me from using the app?  How is this different than any of the wonderful devs from eastern Europe or SE Asia?

"Also, it is no good for flying over water, squares with different colors everywhere."
The great feature of the app is that you DO NOT HAVE TO USE IT!  If you find the water tiles loaded by the app to be offensive - then don't start the app before flying over water!

I do love the flexibility of the app and the great support the developer provides.

Almost all my flying is done below 10,000' and below 150 knots and the google tiles are wonderful in that environment.

I have not had a single problem with the app or caused by the app in the last 500-hours of flying.

It is a tremendous accomplishment for a single dev to provide such a service to our community.

I used this mod from the first time with 30 to 50 flight hours per week.I've never had a crash, it's even easier to make it work than to get a beer from the fridge. I flew over the planet long and wide .This MOD does extraordinary things in some parts of the world and horrible things in others.

Google Map radius is not good at all. It's flat all around your plane at a very short distance.it's exactly the same problem as the new MOD for XP autoOrtho.

You may be using MSFS by default without realizing it for sure!

I've done well over 1000 hrs of flying with this mod.

Never seen the water problem you mention. is that at high altitudes?  I'm a Heli pilot 95% of the time and low alt GA the rest of the time..as I say...never seen it.

Never caused a CTD.  Never caused any issues at all for that matter.

What it has done is completely enhance my MSFS flying experience, removing the horrible green roads and displaying higher resolution textures.  In places where the default textures weren't very good I now have several alternative map sources, one of which will almost certainly be an improvement in the problem areas.

The recently introduced feature that allows you to tweak colours/brightness and contrast of the map colours on the fly is another great feature.

Is it perfect? No, of course not, but the default isn't either and this gives so many options to improve over the default that it's a no-brainer for me. And that the free version.

I'd say, give it a go (not you obviously 😉 )  There is absolutely nothing to lose.  And if someone is forgetful enough to forget to stop the program before uninstalling it causing the infinite update screen issue you mention then it takes all of 10 seconds to delete the content of the hosts file... hardly a big issue is it?

Never seen such a negative post about one of the best mods for the sim.  Peak Avsim.

Try flying near tropical islands, Bahamas is a good example. When I tried it there, flying at 3 to 5.000 ft it was a mess. You will see lots of squares with different colors in the water. It's understandable, because Microsoft does the water masking by hand and this doesn't. Over land it was better than Bing in some places and worse in other places.

Done plenty of flying in the Caribbean.  Not seen it.   Not saying it doesn't happen, but I've not had it happen.

Just remembered as well, the potential Hosts file problem is no longer an issue either.  The app now clears it when you shut it down whether you remember to press Stop or not.
