Oh my ...

that's exactly what I thought after watching only 2 minutes of his video. should at least have shown some of the new features instead of terrain spikes etc. like clouds that now support dynamic lighting so aircraft lights will light up the clouds as you fly over, through and around them.

Yes, I also think flying in the clouds is probably the best thing in P3Dv6... that way, they mask the horrible terrain 😛

That video is a revelation, really. I was considering buying v6 to enjoy some of my old v4 addons in VR again, thanks to the supposely nicer clouds. Now I see I don't need to buy that new sim.

and paid $ 60 for that.

Well, I honestly ask myself how one can use a flight sim without historical weather. I guess people are different, who'd have thought!

you could purchase the 1 month developer license for $ 9.99 and see if or probably if not you'd like to continue.

If I were a P3D dev I would honestly offer to pay the guy to just delete the video.

4 hours and 30 minutes of turrible!

It’s designed around using add-ons according to the users needs. Like ORBX,etc. And when installed make it look as good as any sim out there.
But it’s primarily designed to be a flight simulator and not an arcade game.

Sounds like a bunch of coping to me, P3D is just visually outdated. ORBX addons are only caked on makeup over blotchy skin (well in this case cotton balls for clouds dipped in blue porta potty water and more porta potty water puddles laid over jpeg quilted terrain tiles in 2023) and that's honestly ok.

No worries you don't need to make excuses for v6 failed hype.

A fully decked out v5.4 remains superior, for addon invested seasoned P3D users.

As far as new simmers and first impressions.... P3D, XP12 or MSFS?

One doesn't even feel like an option at this point.🤔

I don't fly the other sim because it only has 2 sliders for the flight models behavior, and I don't like streaming scenery. P3d and x-plane have 100's that control each plane. That's why that other sim will never be certified as a study level aircraft. Like others have said, The other sim controls the flight models, While P3d, The planes control the flight models. Visuals are useless to me.I want behavior more like the real aircraft. Some of you seem to have a real problem with the ones that enjoy there platform of choice. Why aren't you out flying your such wonderful sim? Don't forget your Xbox Controller.

No way it's from a 2023 sim, looks like FSX

we do. while at the same time we follow from time to time what else is happening in the Flightsim world. so we can always re-evaluate and make an educated decision what would currently be the best choice for our specific, personal needs. and naturally, we - the non-P3Dv6 people, have to be gamers, irrespective of how many hours we may have as PIC.

it's important to have the correct weather when re-enacting flights I've done.

I wish I had a button "historic weather" during my check flight in the cockpit 😀. and while it is possible to create any weather scenarios one could ever wish for in the other simulators, I agree that such historic weather feature is still missing in MSFS, but only "still missing". there is a new version coming soon.

not exactly. it is "why does my P3Dv6 sim not look better than my P3Dv5.4 sim"? it is basically only P3Dv5.6 with lots of developers and customers lost.

I suggest that everyone calm down a bit and realize that P3Dv6 has only been out for a couple of days.  Patience, the videos and screenshots will come.

Moreover, the stock scenery has always been unimpressive, so no surprise there.  I couldn't use P3D without FTX Global and FTX OpenLC.

I'm not impressed with the clouds based on what I saw in the 4.5 hour video.  I hope we're not forced to use those.  I saw some new hangars which looked better than stock P3Dv1-5.  Also saw new taxiway lines and markings, and taxiway lights and signs, which are much more realistic.

If it's even a small improvement over P3Dv5 then it's worth it for me to upgrade as long as my planes and scenery still work.
