Couldn't be further from the truth... So far 2024 looks even more of a simulator than 2020 already is:

The 10 year support is basically a falsehood since we all will be resetting the clock when we purchase 2024 in the future.

Wrong. It's only a falsehood if they promised 10 years support for v2020, they did not. This whole "10 year" initial statement has been explained by them countless times, and then again after the 2024 announcement... Here's Jorg/Seb touching on the 10 year topic after the 2024 announcement: https://youtu.be/38TGJIDXFIo?t=780 initial comment was all about assurance of how they are in it for the long haul (unlike the FSX example where they left the scene).. with the 2024 announcements this has been extended even longer. For 2020 updates will continue for many years, maybe v2020 SUs might slow down to a once or twice a year after 2024 releases, but for example something like world updates will still benefit v2020 (i.e. photogrammetry).

I'm expecting highly detailed gradually changing fall colors, like different parts of New England from September to December based on location and elevation. I'm expecting extreme detail on final approach into an airport like LAX at night. The parking lots of supermarkets and convenience stores, cars pulling in and out of their spaces, crisp and clear flashing lights from police cars, fire engines, ambulances etc.

On the other hand when Pong was released in 1972 it must have been exciting as well. Not only do you hit the ball with your little paddle, you can even hit the ball in different ways, like you're putting a spin on it, just like in real life!

So I'm excited about FS24, just not that amazingly excited. I'm not expecting huge improvements over FS20, or P3D, or even FSX etc. To me it seems none of these has ever represented anything resembling a "great leap forward", but rather an overall steady progression, gradually improving quality, but also sometimes messing things up along the way. Which I feel is perfectly normal.

Kind of echoes the thread in Hangar Chat. We seem to be past the big post-release rush. I am hoping A2A can accelerate a bit now that they have their framework in place. PMDG has never been fast. Everyone is still waiting on Fenix, FSLabs, and FBW from an airbus perspective. Outlets like Black Square and SWS seem to have a LOT of projects on their plates but who knows how long it'll be before they get to market. Ditto for Just Flight.

Working Title gets the gold medal in my book. They've done so much for this sim and don't get the thanks and recognition they deserve. Without their direct involvement I may very well be fully invested in another sim by this point. They've picked up a lot of the slack in releases and provided us by far the best default avionics we've ever had. The 787 and 747 are a fantastic bonus now, satiating most of us until the 777 hits.

That’s my sentiment at this point. Things are getting wrapped up and the attentions will be on 2024.

Nice. I'd really like the forum software to give us this as a "vote" button - as in - "like", "upvote" and "tinfoil hat" But no doubt that's way too non-pc for these days.

Not really drama. I just feel things are calm now, but when they start sharing more stuff we will probably see things speeding up. Just food for thought.

You statement is really getting old, been hearing that garbage  since MSFS 2020 came out.

Do not disagree. However what has been disclosed about 2024 is predominently more experience related than technical.  Of note is that from 2020 to the present a great deal of technical improvement has arrived, and the closer it gets to like-real, the more difficult it will be to close the final gap.  Law of diminishing returns.  So building the experience is a logical way to turn to.

Just with the additional rotary wing model promises how could they have ignored a TV traffic-copter police copter

Please consider that no enancement exists in a vaccume since projects are pretty organic.  Chill and doen't worry about unofficiall anouncements.

So while I never use the term Study Level since it means nothing

In your world maybe. In the sim world it is a well used term to mean any addon that requires some study to use it due to its complexity.

Most of the news about 2024 that came out of FSExpo was technical.

The permanent white dot doesn't effect everyone, and they're having a hard time narrowing it down because of that.

I see it if I move the camera with my controller, but it vanishes as soon as I top moving it. It does not appear if I move with the mouse.

Was there in person.  What was stated that Friday afternoon and what was in the content of the prior web release begs a ton of questons.  Much of the techincal I heard when listening, may have to do with tech updates that come before 2024. We can both speak expectations.  Only time will tell.
