July 7, 20232 yr I'm feeling lately everything is too calm in the hobby. Nothing disruptive happening. But… there is a storm ahead of us. Do you think we are in the calm (the end of MSFS 2020 cycle) before the storm (release of the MSFS 2024)? I’m really expecting a reinvigoration of the hobby next year. Awesome times ahead (and also turbulent times 😂). July 7, 20232 yr Well, when I look around, beyond my screen, at the real world, I see a lot of stormy weather, and I mean a lot. 'nuf said. So a little calm in our hobby is just what is recommended by the doctor 😇. July 7, 20232 yr I think if the current capabilities and realism of our day to day addons and simbase is a 7.2, we're about to jump to an 8.5. We're going to see leaps and bounds in physics, smoothness, ATC / AI, weather, and aircraft addon capabilities. We just have to survive another 2 years. Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.
July 7, 20232 yr I'm still waiting for a study level long haul airliner to start actually enjoying FS2020. Very disappointed by PMDG to not be able to deliver 777.

Study level is a strong word to use but to be honest the 787 and Headwind 330 do an alright job for the time being.

How about a study level Global Express for the business side of travel. I keep seeing these short range offerings released.😣😏 FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

I would of used the words "High Fidelity" something PMDG will deliver one day (MAYBE) with the long range 777's systems simulation in MSFS. Edited July 7, 20232 yr by JBDB-MD80
July 7, 20232 yr I don't expect 2024 to come out until the summer or fall, so I think we'll still get a bit more out of 2020 next year. Plus they said World Updates and City updates will still come to 2020 even after 2024 releases, they'll just be a bit different from 2024's versions because 2024 has new tech.
July 7, 20232 yr Kind of echoes the thread in Hangar Chat. We seem to be past the big post-release rush. I am hoping A2A can accelerate a bit now that they have their framework in place. PMDG has never been fast. Everyone is still waiting on Fenix, FSLabs, and FBW from an airbus perspective. Outlets like Black Square and SWS seem to have a LOT of projects on their plates but who knows how long it'll be before they get to market. Ditto for Just Flight. Working Title gets the gold medal in my book. They've done so much for this sim and don't get the thanks and recognition they deserve. Without their direct involvement I may very well be fully invested in another sim by this point. They've picked up a lot of the slack in releases and provided us by far the best default avionics we've ever had. The 787 and 747 are a fantastic bonus now, satiating most of us until the 777 hits. Or for MSFS 2020 in July 2023: https://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=74561 ... maybe you meant FSL 🙂 Len 1980s: Sublogic FS II on C64 ---> 1990s: Flight Unlimited I/II, MSFS 95/98 ---> 2000s/2010s: FS/X, P3D, XP ---> 2020+: MSFS Current system: i9 13900K, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD

So far 2024 looks more of a game then 2020 even does. So while I never use the term Study Level since it means nothing I would believe that the marketplace will see more of what we currently have seen since the game was released. The 10 year support is basically a falsehood since we all will be resetting the clock when we purchase 2024 in the future. I have little doubt we will all be paying for updates to the aircraft we all currently have purchased. I don't think of the move as being a calm before the storm for whatever you are inferring however. Maybe by the time 2024 rolls around we will see a 777 of some type from someone, heck maybe even a EFB/Tablet from PMDG.
