Well if P3D or FSX should be any guideline using VoxATC back in the day FPS did not change much at all, at least not on my system

I always wondered why my FSHud ran like rubbish yet FSLTL on its own was fine with the same number of aircraft.

But FSHud is so good that I now limit myself to 5 aircraft in the air and 5 on the ground for silky smooth frames.  I may not bother with Beyond ATC if it cannot stop an A/C taxying right in front of you as you are on final.

i doubt if you would ever see any interference with AI aircraft with that small number FShud or no FShud. I could count on one hand the number of times, in weeks of flying where I have issues with AI aircraft getting in my way, using FSLTL and PF3. PF3 won't give you clearance to take the runway, if there is any aircraft four or five miles on approach to the active runway. My AI settings are much higher than yours.

With all the extra frames we have to spare these days, who cares? I for one would take a 30- FPS hit for this feature any day. and it would still leave me way over 60fps. You have to start somewhere, why not now? It is pointless having ATC controlling us, only for an AI aircraft to get in the way, and completely ruin the immersion. Kinda defeats the point of having ATC, as mikced76 pointed out.

You seem to forget that the majority of users do NOT own a RTX4000 generation card . 😉

That is exactly what I was thinking, my guess is the vast majority of MSFS users only get 60 fps in their dreams.

Yep, I'm not even going to comment about what he said. 🤨

So that means developers shouldn’t push the envelope? Of course they should. The vast majority of car owners don’t own a Ferrari. That doesn’t stop ferarri pushing towards the pinnacle of tech advances. This tech eventually makes its way down to your Fords and Citroens etc…

I am sure in time people will catch up with 4 series technology, natural progression of things. Developers should be using the latest and greatest and pushing the limits, not catering for the majority of people stuck on yesterdays tech.

As people are usually quick to point out here, lower your settings…. That’s what I’d be willing to do to get ATC and AI working in harmony.

PS if I win big on the lotto, I’ll personally purchase a 4090 for every avsim forum member 😄

Those of us who don’t have 30fps to spare… which is the majority of users.

And the argument with Ferrari (niche/minority) doesn’t work. Does Honda (majority/masses) waste their time trying to push the envelope with high tech fast cars, or do they put their focus, energy, and money on what the majority of their customers uses and needs are? Besides, I’ve got a 4080 myself and even I don’t always have 30fps to give up 😒

I can just picture someone paying almost $2,000 to get a GPU that will allow them to use an ATC program that controls AI , and still get 30 fps..... LOL...

Oh that's right you turned in your VR Wings...

You're back to speaking from a pancaker's point of view.

Gotcha!😉

Nice strawman discussion going on here.

Back to the facts: When I use FSHud, which controls AI traffic, with a similar amount of aircraft compared to using FSLTL without FSHud the performance impact of FSHud is somewhere between 10% and 20%. So for example my FPS drop from 40 to 35.

The Honda NSX is calling and would like to talk…

So someone getting 30 FPS would be looking at 24 FPS.. Not good in my opinion.

I peronally have no problems with FSHud and Fps, yesterday I landed in LPPT, the airport was crowded with a lot of taxiing airplanes and landing airplanes.

I have a I7-8700K which is quite old processor but must also admit that I am really happy with my new RTX4070 with frame generation 🙂🙂 🙂
