July 13, 20232 yr I found the AI press conference a bit cringy and hard to take seriously even though yes, I think AI is probably eventually gonna kill us and replace humanity.... Just a quick heads up: AI-powered robots will kill us. K, bye. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. July 13, 20232 yr Na! Artificial Intelligence is a misnomer. Mimicked Intelligence would be far better suited. Thomas Aquinas described intelligence as a faculty of the soul. The internet doesn't have soul.🤪🤣 Yes the Robots will kill all of us! 🤔😨😭 Intel Core i9-10900K at 5.2GHz, Corsair H115i PRO, ASUS MAXIMUS XII HERO Z490, G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 15-16-16-36, ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090, SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2280 1TB x 3, Corsair HX Series HX1000 Watt PSU, Pimax Crystal LIght.

July 13, 20232 yr I think that all these folks talking about AI killing everybody have seen too many movies. The only way this would happen is if we create an army of AI robots and then give them control over critical functions and infrastructure such as our military, police, utilities, transportation, etc. One day they might determine that we humans are a threat and then move to take over and imprison or kill humans. What we need to worry about right now are the very real humans who are trying to take over and control us all. Including very angry Nuclear tipped ICBMs That's true, although I'd be surprised if our nuclear command and control is connected to the Internet. Which is the fear. A much-smarter-than-puny-humans Ai might offer us something we think we want (Immortality!) and then have it turn out to be some sort of trap we simply were not smart enough to see coming..... I read a book where aliens gave us tech we thought was bringing on a utopia, as we merged ourselves with nanomachines and became practically a new species. Then the aliens gave a hidden command, and the nanomachines promptly ate/absorbed their human components. And that was all she wrote. Pop went humanity. We are all connected..... The human brain has 86 billion neurons and they can all connect to each other in an unfathomable number of ways. In fact the brain is the most complex arrangement of matter we know of. So yes, given technology with sufficient complexity true general artificial intelligence as well as sentience is possible. in fact I'd say its going to be inevitable. There is no magical soul energy that exists in our brains, rather, what we are is a combination of wetware and software of such complexity possibly quantum) that it gives rise to what we call consciousness. We have been warmed about the dangers of AGI right back to Asimov and before, so we have had plenty of warning. Now, we could say that all we need to do is put proper safeguards in place, like Asimov's three laws, to safeguard humanity but here's the thing, all it takes is one rogue nut job to create a sentient synthetic being that doesn't have those safeguards and is allowed to be not just equal to us but superior... and the science fiction nightmare is upon us. We can't stop it, true general artificial intelligence will be manifest. All we can do is our utmost to control it and then just hope for the best. Edited July 14, 20232 yr by martin-w
