Windows 11 -- Benefit to MSFS?

NO. 😊

as I mentioned before, modern CPUs/GPUs benefit from Windows11/DirectX12: better load distribution, resulting in more constant frame times -> smoother experience. I have upgraded to Windows 11 for this feature alone which has greatly mitigated the well  known main core bottleneck.

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

The question is, are you certain that the improvement you see is due to Win-11 and not other change(s) you made? If this is true, it's remarkable that others haven't made the same discovery -- and so far I don't have that impression.

I have been asking this question for more than two years, and have yet to hear of any actual advantages over Win-10 vis-a-vis MSFS. So as far as I know, the answer to the OP's question is NO. (Many posts have said "I've had no problems with Win-11", but that wasn't the question!).

Perhaps my answer was so short and to the point that the OP missed it.
Now that there are two, there is a smaller chance of that.

Windows 11 does, factually, have an improved CPU scheduler that works better with modern CPUs, particularly Intel's efficiency cores and hybrid designs in general;

What makes Windows 11 better than Windows 10 in this regard is that Windows 10 focuses more on the power of certain cores, whereas Windows 11 expands that to efficiency as well. While Windows 10 considers the E-cores as lower performance than P-cores, it doesn’t know how well each core does at a given frequency with a workload, whereas Windows 11 does. Combine that with an instruction prioritization model, and Intel states that under Windows 11, users should expect a lot better consistency in performance when it comes to hybrid CPU designs.

Though if there's any blanket improvements across the board of all CPUs, I haven't seen any numbers to back that up.

[MSI MPG X870E Carbon | 9800X3D (PBO +200Mhz / -20 Offset) | Corsair 64GB DDR5 (Custom Timings) | RTX 4090 Founders Edition (Undervolted) | WD SNX 850X 4TB + 4TB | Antec Flux Pro]

There has to be  reason why only about 25-30% of windows users are using W 11.

just because they have not replied to your thread (normally discussed not here but in Avsim's specific hardware forums) doesn't mean there is no such benefit. here is the CPU core load distribution with DX12 after I have upgraded to Windows11. CPU load was never spread over all cores that evenly under Windows 10. further code optimization by Asobo in later updates may also have had some positive effect:

MSFS running Windows 11 + DirectX 12:

Windows 10: I have not observed such bad load distribution after upgrading to Windows 11:

Windows 10: better load distribution, but still not as efficient as under Windows 11:

just like only a minority has high end hardware to benefit maximum from Windows 11's newer CPU scheduler. and because not everybody uses high end GPUs/CPUs makes those less useful or powerful? Windows 11's new and more efficient CPU scheduler is a complex subject and I am no developer nor expert, but my screenshots above may be helpful.

It used to be considered a 'no-no' upgrading an OS over an old OS (installing fresh was the best option). From what I'm reading is that a non-issue now?😶

I upgraded to Win 11 yesterday, it was a easy update and all works well, and as far as MSFS, it seems smoother and looks a little better, not as much shimmering, YMMV but it was a good update for me.

I have been using Windows 11 for some time now and am still using DX11 as I understand that the FBW team still recommend it (please correct me if I am wrong), I only fly the FBW A320. MSFS runs smoothly, I have most settings at ultra.

I have an I9 processor and a RTX 3070 card. 16mb ram

I don't think I answered the initial question. My wife runs Windows 10. I see from a layman's view no difference between the two in performance. I have not run MSFS under windows 10 so cannot comment on that. Stating the obvious, just be aware that in a couple of years time Windows 10 will not be supported.

Did I see somewhere windows 12 is waiting in the wings?

I would be interested in the answer as I too upgraded w10 to w11 without doing a fresh install.  Where are you reading that it is a non issue now?

I've certainly not come across any issues in my system (though I'm guessing that a fresh w11 install might have a smaller footprint.

Concerning 'None Issue', I'm going by the feedback.  I got my answer when reviewing the Avsim W11 forum where another user asked about installing over W10.  So now I'm just deciding when I'm going to do it.  Windows 11 will not be free at some point and W12 is around the corner.😕

As a layman, it appears that for some time, when Windows "updates", it in fact completely removes the last version and puts it into
a folder for future reference, in case the User wants to "roll back".
Once again, to the layman, that looks more like a clean installation, that then has existing added software added back into it.

Of course, if the added software is broken before the update, it will still be broken after it, but otherwise, no one seems to have created problems
by updating from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
It is mildly amusing to see that each time there is a version change, there are complaints that the UI is no good and instead of just getting used
to it, attempts are made to change the appearance to resemble the last one.
Windows 11 is no more or less intuitive than Windows 10, it just features a few more icons, instead of words.

why not ask the experts for a change:

similar optimizations exist for latest AMD cpus.

After installing W11 there seems to be stability issues with FS (knew I should have waited and not installed this over W10😖).  It's not bad it's just that FS will lockup on startup from time to time requiring a restart.  I found 'Game Mode' to be beneficial in that third party scenery loads and performs better with it on.  A decent improvement I found was with FlyTampa's KLAS.  The downside is you can't have other apps open when launching MSFS as the sim will lock-up on startup...😕
