Can anyone please suggest starting values I should place into the fields in GREEN, and whether the fields in ORANGE would benefit from some changes.

I don't really understand what these fields are doing, so just looking for suggested starting values?

 

Will the tool do anything at all if I leave these values blank?

Yes. They are just for adding extra layers or altering existing ones. Leave it as it is to start and adjust to your liking later.

If you like to change the settings in green, dubbleclick the line you like to change and press the S button when you are done, but be sure you use (.) not (,) when you make changes, if you have a stable fps in air I recommend you to uncheck the FPS Adaption, my game run smooth after I did that.

In the main TLOD columns on the left, I've been trying to reduce the TLOD AGL 0 from '1' to less than that, but it crashes the app. So I guess '1'  (100)  is the lowest that the tool can reduce LOD too?   (I don't mean the FPS reduction section's minimum LOD, I mean the columns on the left, for the main LOD variation).

I can change to 0.5, but I only make changes before I start MSFS, try to press enter before you press the S button

I had set low TLODs below 300 AGL in the app, before launching MSFS.

As can be seen here, although I am on the ground at 0 AGL, the app is forcing a TLOD of '1' (rather than my set 0.2).

Any ideas why this is happening?   I've not managed to get the app to force a TLOD of less than '1' yet.

Aah, I've just thought!   What does the TLOD need to be set to in MSFS settings?   Could that be affecting it?   It is currently set to 100.

I restarted the app and MSFS and et voila, it now forces the TLODs and OLODs that I have set in the app.   Only thing to note is that, where I've seen some people say that they can make tweaks on the fly, while MSFS is running, this doesn't happen for me.  Any changes I make to the TLOD and OLOD tables are not reflected in MSFS until I restart it.

But I'm not fussed about that ....... I'm sold!   This thing is a keeper!

Amazing work and as others have set, this approach should be part of MSFS going forward. It's so effective. 😎

I find that the LOD i have set in the sim settings is the maximum i will get using the app. No idea about LOD less than 1 because, fortunately,  i have no need to go under one anywhere. But there again I'm happy as long as i don't go much lower than 30FPS.

That's interesting. In the MSFS settings, my TLOD and OLODs are both sitting on 100 (what this tool would call '1').  

But it's successfully forcing upto 300 ('3') when in use, as I've set it to use 1 upto 2500, then 2 between 2500 and 4500, then 3 above 4500.

I'm with you on the less than 1.  I don't really need to use it as I mostly fly GA and actually don't have any performance issues any more (recent new PC and GPU).  But I do love a good play, so was experiementing with the Fenix at EGNT, seeing how high I could get the FPS on the ground 😄

Some Observations:

• It is not a about FPS, it is about Smoothness.
• Don't over-do it.
  • Don't try to use extreme Values (in both Directions) you normally would not.
  • Don't do small and fast Steps.
