Yesterday I had a CTD on my Left view client half way in my 2h flight.

My server did not have the App ( the non auto App 0.37 ) running and had no issues

I was at cruising altitude (37000 ft )

tLOD 250 / oLOD 200

Was this SU15 beta or SU14?

The thread is 73 pages long, and googling "MSFS2020_AutoFPS" yields only this thread and @Reset XPDR Avsim's profile. Where can I download this new version?

Thank you very much! I installed it. I use the FG mod, and I lock my frames in RTSS at 60 (MSFS thinks it's doing just 30). If I understood you correctly, I should set 60 as target FPS?

Just to clarify, is it an app CTD or MSFS CTD?

I also had a MSFS CTD when using the APP with SU15 Beta.

You set it to your actual FG FPS target. Do note that in order for the automation to work, you have to set a lower FPS target than any FPS lock you have in place, otherwise it will never work TLOD up as won't exceed the FPS tolerance you have set. ie. if you have FPS target of 60 and an FPS tolerance of 5%, with is 3 FPS, TLOD will not increase unless FPS goes above 63 FPS, so if you have an RTSS lock of 60 it will never get there. You should set an FPS target at least the target FPS minus the calculated tolerance lower minus a few more FPS so it can actually get above that tolerace, eg. 55 FPS would be good in this case.

It is interesting that people are getting CTDs with SU15 beta in the last day or so, yet as far as I can tell the SU15 beta hasn't changed in the last 8 days and I have had no reports of CTDs until now. I wonder what has changed recently to make this happen. Was there a minor update with SU15 beta recently that hasn't yet been announced?

Just tried it using DynamicLod with no issues, apart from some major stutters (really long pauses basically)

Me neither, ac PMDG 737, not a single CTD since day one of Asobo's beta SU15 and using this amazing app.

Assuming you mean the auto FPS version? Dynamic Lod should not with the checkbox unchecked...

Thanks for this! Your advice came at just the right time as I'm experimenting with FPS locked vs free. Currently locked @ 60 and set target FPS to 55. FG on.

A new MSFS2020_AutoFPS concept demonstration version 21Feb240200Z has been released and is available here. Changes since the last version are:

  • Added auto pausing on MSFS losing focus, which defaults to on when not using expert options and is user selectable via expert options. This will stop TLOD and, if applicable, cloud quality from changing while you are focused on another app and not MSFS. It is particularly useful for when using FG as the FG active and inactive frame rate can vary quite considerably and because FG is not always an exact doubling of non-FG FPS. The status message will indicate Auto PAUSED when the app is paused.
  • Added an FPS settling timer for 6 seconds to allow FPS to settle between pausing/unpausing and VR/PC/FG mode transitions. This allows the FPS to stabilise before engaging automatic functions and should lead to much smaller TLOD changes while hunting target FPS on such transitions. The status message will show when FPS settling is occuring and how long until it finishes.
  • Added Separate FPS targets for VR , PC and FG modes that will be saved in your config file. This is particularly useful if using both FG in PC mode and VR in your flights as the FG FPS target can be significantly higher than the one for VR.
  • Fixed indication for target FPS no longer in use when TLOD min for ground/landing has priority when Expert options disabled.
  • Further tuned auto TLOD logic, particularly to enhance the behaviour of TLOD min priority when doing pattern work.
  • Minimised calling of memory reads and writes by calling once per tick and storing result to make accessible to other modules.
  • Made TLOD and FPS sim value colouring consistent with the current auto priority mode. Green means the sim value is at or better than target value being sought, red means at lowest level or worse than target value being sought, orange means TLOD is auto adjusting, black is shown otherwise.

Pending any major issues being found, this will be the final concept demonstration version before formal release, after which a new discussion thread for MSFS2020_AutoFPS so as not to further clutter up DynamicLOD discussion (although some of the applicable fixes/improvements made in MSFS2020_AutoFPS will soon transfer into upcoming DynamicLOD_ResetEdition).
