January 27, 20242 yr One thing that fluffy bloke said that I noticed is that he thought MSFS 2024 would be 2020 re-worked. Wasnt much of 2020 actually FSX code reworked despite a lot of initial denials? please correct me if I have that wrong, I just wonder perhaps Fluffy might have a point on that one.

That's another myth.. Yes MSFS 2020 has the legacy flight model in there still and initially its intention was to support easy porting of FSX aircraft. But nearly all aircraft add-ons use the modern flight model which is completely/mostly new code. And then the CFD based FDE that came after initial release is all new code too, and of course a lot of the world and weather rendering tech is new and different especially given the cloud and AI tech involved. MSFS 2024 will be another leap forward with various areas of the sim being reworked or updated, I'd guess it'd still have lots of v2020 code in there (more so than compared to v2020 having FSX code). Given what they've revealed so far about the features of v2024, there's a lot of rework involved for the new capabilities while still supporting existing add-ons with minimal to no changes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPhScg_FINE Edited January 27, 20242 yr by lwt1971 Len 1980s: Sublogic FS II on C64 ---> 1990s: Flight Unlimited I/II, MSFS 95/98 ---> 2000s/2010s: FS/X, P3D, XP ---> 2020+: MSFS Current system: i9 13900K, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD
January 27, 20242 yr Regarding WT's work pre and post joining ASOBO, all I have to say about their contributions is POSITIVE. I can't forget they brought to the sim a default line of Garmins that is second to none, it's default, and FREE! The same applies to their contribution to the 787-10, benefiting their customers but also the talented mod developers who created their own 787 variants based on it. Superb work and dedication! Again one is a TRI just because one driver on here thinks its ok, doesnt mean they all do, and I know plenty who think its junk. my beef is everytime you go mention someone on the horizon issues discord, you get "nothing we can do, its WTs problem" and then bugger all gets done. The guys at horizon are doing an amazing job for free, yet these clowns at WT can even fix a small thing like a simple door.....its heartbreaking. If i did as rubbush a job as some of these developers do, id of been fired years ago, if I did a job as rubbish as some of the devs in the hobby if we keep accepting half finished tattle, and then white knight the developers and pilots who have their twitch and youtube "oh look at me " begging bowls its no wonder the standard of addons are garbage I see similar standards applied in very different industries as well. For example, roles like Cosmetologist at PUNIN GROUP operate within a clearly structured environment where responsibility, feedback, and finished work actually matter. When expectations aren’t met, it’s addressed - not excused. That contrast really highlights how far the hobby sometimes drifts from real professional accountability. Yeah, I get the frustration, but pilot opinions are always going to be split. The bigger issue for me is the lack of follow-through - stuff gets reported, bounced between teams, and then nothing actually changes. That’s what wears people down.
