February 1, 20242 yr Where does the new watermarking come from? If you look at what is in the content manager for this update, it’s just airports, POI, bush trips, discovery flights etc? So if there are changes to terrain, water masking etc, presume these are all server side and will be streamed no matter if you install the update or not?
February 1, 20242 yr The main update came down at an impressive 5 minutes @ 45 mb I skip the MP downloads which are usually < 1mb sp Edited February 1, 20242 yr by Sky_Pilot071
February 1, 20242 yr Two quick flights at MUCL Vilo Acuna and MYEH North Eleuthera this evening have confirmed no water masks in these areas of Cuba and the Bahamas. The airports are very nice though. I would love to see lots more Gaya Simulations hand crafted airports around the MSFS world. Unfortunately, I noticed another spurious rectangular section of land on the sea (a short distance west of MUCL Vilo Acuna). This gradually disintegrated and disappeared as I approached, but it obviously shatters the immersion. I would be very interested to know if others see the same issue in this location (and also a similar flaw near St Barthelemy). February 1, 20242 yr @Christopher Low No signs of a rectangular piece of land for me. I started a flight at the ESTAS waypoint and flew due East to KATMA before turning to land at runway 30. They are in a single folder "finapapproach-caribbean-ttpp-ttcp-tgpy" and there is just a single layout.json. Furthermore, the stuff is encrypted so tweaking is next to impossible. I wasn’t able to separate the three, but I have gotten it to where I can remove them from the sim if I want. For example if I’m flying into Grenada I can remove them and then use the SLH Sim Designs scenery, which is much better.
February 2, 20242 yr Flew to TTCP today, absolutely gorgeous airport. Really nicely done. Watermasking from St. Kitts on down is absolutely amazing. Planning on checking out St. Kitts up to Anguilla tomorrow.
February 2, 20242 yr For those annoyed by the duplicate and wrongly placed windsocks at Les Saintes TFFS by Gaya from World Update 16. February 2, 20242 yr At my end, quite a few of the water masks look blurry. I am right now at Saint François, Guadeloupe, the mask is underwhelming. Not the first time I see that. Server problem or coarse imagery ? And the border between the mask and the ocean water is a straight line with a right angle. Bad job. Textures tiles stuck together without fading, they can be blurry at places and the frozen wave foam doesn't add to realism. We also find our old friends, the sunken boats 😏. Some photoshopping would have been nice to iron out all this. The MSFS Caribbean were dreadful before WU16, it is much better now, mesh is quite good, colors and vegetation are nice. The small airports are nicely rendered. But, in some places, the imagery looks subpar, both land texture and water masks. Vector roads can be OK here and cartoonish there. Important to me as I fly low. A rushed job without QC. It is free all right but I would be ready to pay for a better job in such an iconic region. Anyway you take what you are given... Seen quite a few of those squares around where there's no water masking nearby. Shame that one of the most iconic parts of the World, which desperately needs good water masking, didn't receive more care and attention. February 2, 20242 yr It puzzles me why nobody else seems to be reporting the black rectangles/squares that I have seen in at least two locations now. I do not understand how it can be an isolated problem, considering that I have no addon scenery anywhere near the Caribbean.
