A bit sooner than I was planning, but pushed early into existence because of the MSFS 2024 1.2.8.0 update 😁, please find MSFS_AutoFPS version 0.4.4.1 formal release here https://github.com/ResetXPDR/MSFS_AutoFPS/releases/tag/v0.4.4.1

Release Notes:

  • MSFS 2024 1.2.8.0 compatibility update.
  • Changed window close button to exit the application with user confirmation, if applicable, per standard windows convention.
  • App icon more intuitively resides on the task bar when the app is running, not in the system tray overflow.
  • App remembers the app's window minimised or normal state and will restore that on next startup.
  • App auto pauses and prevents changes to MSFS settings when in, or if paused when resuming from, MSFS 2024 menus.
  • MSFS version detection improved to log and ignore false MSFS 2024 installations that occurred for some users when MSFS 2024 was first released.
  • Minor bug fixes and log file refinements.

I think we are good to go for formal release. Thanks everyone!

I re-installed the release version of MSFS_AutoFPS from scratch and my issues with the cloud quality settings changing are now resolved.

@Reset XPDR Thank-you so much for your continued support of this program. Don't know what we would do without you!

For me 4.4.1 lowers clouds to Low and stay there.

I use GPU load with Decr/Incr: 98/80 and when GPU load drops below 80 it does not increase.

Using TLOD does not increase Cloud quality either.

Pressing the Reset button freezes MSFS2024

**Edit**

Re-installing 4.4.1 fixed this problem.

Sorry to report that 0.4.4.1 freezes my sim as soon as the Session gets green. MS Store, 1.2.8.0

PS: several reboots, re-installation of 0.4.4.1, kayjay 1.0.3.0 is OK

Per the updated instructions in the 0.4.4.1 release notes, which you may not have seen:

  • If you experience CTDs or freezing with MSFS 2024 when using this app after installing this update, it is possible your app config file has become corrupt. Try a clean install of this update by running the app installer, select the Remove button, close then run the installer again and click Install.

This has fixed it for everyone that has encountered it so far.

I only put that in a few hours ago, after having a few users report the same as you and all their config files have been corrupted by the MSFS update.

FYI, I am working on another update, as the one that went out today wasn't quite finished and then Hurricane 1.2.8.0 came along and rapidly advanced the schedule! Included will be an automated removal of potentially corrupted config file entries after a sim update and a beefed up memory integrity checker so that this sort of thing is very unlikely to happen again.

Yeah, I had this issue as well. I went around the long way and reinstalled the entire game (which didn't take long, thank goodness), and now I'm back up and running.

Sorry about that. This one got through what I though was a pretty robust security net. While I can't guarantee this sort of thing will never happen again, I will do my best to make it much less likely.

No reason to be sorry.

This app is really a game changer for MSFS.

Thank You for putting so much effort into developing it.

Hey guys, I'm a little late to the party with this one  I have been using the Adaptive LOD app since it's release and have been very happy with it, so I've not used the Auto FPS app. I have a question, I fly with clouds on high, don't experience any gain from the slider being any lower and see little visual benefit, although very slightly, from having it on ultra. Correct me if I'm wrong, my understanding is that this app changes both the clouds and the terrain LOD to maintain a predetermined FPS. My question is, if I don't use the cloud part of the app, what would be the benefit of me in using this app? Is there some benefit that I have overlooked?

I also try to keep clouds on high (medium or low in many occasions looks bad), and the app still works very good. Expecially on the ground or approach at bigger airports, the lower tlod gives better stable framerates.

Ah, OK. Then I guess I can use it with only the terrain LOD changing and benefit from the better efficiency. Cheers, I'll try it today.
