Humans like conflict and feeling morally superior." He's practically admitting he's been negative for the hits 🙄 And therein lies the main problem with youtube review videos. They are clickbait. He lost me when he said AS absolutely did not display clouds above 12k ft. He's using version 8874 and the biggest nono of all, he's switching back and forth rapidly which will guarantee to bork AS depiction. Lastly, comparing ANY current product to actual weather on camera is a crapshoot. If they get it right it's really the luck of the draw AND we are talking metar data which could be an hour old vs current. That comparison proves nothing. There are so many other things wrong with his video. Like not ALL thunderclouds have anvil tops. However, to each his own but it's sad that many people will think he's correct. It wasn't long before people on the Facebook MSFS Group were calling it a "cash grab' and it wasn't worth buying. That is sad. Interesting comment, coming from someone that just said 95% of youtube sim videos are a pile of $hit. That's right around the corner when 2024 debuts I can see the differences as we all can in Cpt_Piett's great video but frankly it appears to me it really depends on exactly where you are at that point in the flight. IOW, I see a lot of the stuff in AS in MSFS default, at times, like right now coming into EHAM. But yes certainly there seems to be a more consistent presentation and less 'drama' as Fiorentoni mentions. April 27, 20242 yr The conversation shouldn't even be about visuals. The biggest positive in favor of AS is that it fixes Asobo's broken turbulence and wind, which is absurdly unrealistic with default MSFS weather.

There are so many other things wrong with his video. Like not ALL thunderclouds have anvil tops. However, to each his own but it's sad that many people will think he's correct. I'm remaking the video with 8883, weather has not improved. Why is the idea that there are no clouds about 12k is a problem so radical. I fly tube liners, the part you guys care about is only a few minutes for me. if Damian and HiFi could incorporate SIGMET-G Cloud data then I'd be a happy camper but as it stands the upper atmosphere is being depicted incorrectly. In my video, I make sure all my time stamps are all fully visible and I show all METARS currently for that airfield and that they match between Windy AWC and ActiveSky. I am correct. I wanted this to be a good addon, I was really excited about upper level clouds at 35,000 feet and bouncing around through them but I have not found one instance where that weather is depicted. Also, those thunderstorms had tops around 30-40k feet they should have had anvil heads, the satellite showed them and MSFS depicted. Look I get it you guys love Damian and Hi-Fi and will defend him tooth nail even though I'm seeing a lot of you secretly complaining in his forum, but this addon is a long ways from done. Like I said if you want to do pattern work and you think the weather is accurate more power to you. I don't. That's my opinion. When there are massive thunderstorms all around a location and not one of them is depicted in ASAF but are in MSFS, I have to call into question whether the addon is necessary. And the negativity thing is fault of the community. I guarantee if this was a review about a Captain Sim, Feel There, Virtual Col or Bredok3D or product the tone would be completely the opposite. And even if it was a good addon and I defended it you guys would still go overboard with your hate for it..... so look in the mirror. HiFi Active sky might get better but not yet. The videos I have seen defending it show vanilla unchallenging weather scenarios. Like: see see! it nailed broken at 2000 broken at 5000 such a good addon. Damian has also stated the reason we got Snow at Zurich is they are using low res GFS snow data, he also admits there are problems with upper atmosphere depiction. He is aware and will probably fix it. That's good but there are still issues. Also you people who think I have an agenda because I'm monetized, don't understand you tube. This channel will never make a cent. I do it because I don't think others have objective reviews. They basically get a product for free then rave about it. I buy all my addons and review them objectively, I don't make a penny.

I can't get anything like that. And yet you post a video stating that AS doesn't depict clouds above 12K. My comment about that is that YOU aren't seeing them but many other people do. So - sorry, when I see someone complaining about something that is due to their own inefficiency, I tend to discount their opinion. Also, the switching back and forth as you appear to be doing creates bad data. You are entitled to your opinion - you don't like what you see - fine - it is YOUR sim and your choice, just don't blame the product for your errors in operation. And as you are aware, Damian takes all comments seriously and is working very hard to fine tune AS to please everyone. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
April 27, 20242 yr So this evening I tried with the latest Beta 8883 and the weather depiction didn't match what I saw out my window, I chose somewhere in the US and again the same (this time comparing to windy.com, I can't see that far...!). Maybe there's some weirdness going on with the beta as it was just fine the other day on public release, mattered not as I chose a random area in the US just to look at the clouds and again - the likes of which I've not seen since Release > SU7 period. screenshots here: Edited April 27, 20242 yr by MarcG Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1 Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)
