You guys must have all missed the part where the dev put it to a vote and the majority asked them to release early. Several of us said yes, release early but just be prepared for the dogpile of people

I don't understand what you're saying. You think you shouldn't have to pay for early access products?

No, you shouldn't,

In software development, especially game development there is this unholy trend to not pay Beta Testers and instead let Beta Testers pay to test incomplete software and then call it "Early Access".

How about the developers pay ME for testing? Novel idea, eh?

I am happy with the ATC I use now, hate wearing a headset and talking to a program, don't like having a GUI on my screen, and to me AI isn't a big issue. I use FSLTL for my AI, PF3 tells me active runways, and I can count on one hand, how many times in 100s of  flights, AI causes me any sort of  problem. If I didn't have an ATC program that I liked now, I probably would consider BATC.

Class act. It's refreshing to see professionalism for a change.

Seems very similar to SI so far from the video.

I think SI is a little ahead of the curve compared to Beyond ATC from the video, but the price difference is huge.

Considering we can expect this to only get better, this is very interesting indeed.

Sadly, I will stick with FShud for now, at least until the software has worked out some of their missing features and kinks.

I'm thoroughly impressed with the accents featured in BATC's basic voices, ranging from French and German to Danish, Dutch, and Portuguese. While some words may sound slightly off at times, the overall experience is quite immersive.

Another cool feature of BATC is its flexibility. Should users encounter any issues during a stage of flight, they have the convenience of relaunching the program and seamlessly resuming from the exact point they left off. This also enables intermittent use with VATSIM, for instance.

Biggest negative point so far: vectoring for approach still needs work!

and even stressed me out a bit, I might add

That's normal. I started to use Vatsim in February and I was a wreck whenever I made initial contact with ground, dreading the readbacks.

But then I just started to write stuff down instead of trying to memorize. It's called a READback after all. Since then my anxiety reduced to zero. The controllers are all patient guys anyway, they are used to people having trouble understanding.

What aggravates them more is when people in the air don't do as they are told. 😉

So far it is much better than SI (actively tested it for 2 month).

Only troubles I've encountered so far is:

1. Admin rights installation issue.

2. Traffic not fully working wth it (perhaps wrong vbersion of FSLTL, will test some more)

3. And the biggest one so far (all in one 20 minute flight) - disconnection with radio silence. (only beep of contact, all radios quiet. After restart of the program it picked up in descend, but again disconnected on the ground and I couldn't reconnect it to the actual phase (it thought I am in need of pusback, while in reality I just cleared the runway

Traffic is not included yet in the early access.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Traffic injection is at 0.5 stage, not clear what it means by it. It says it can acess communication and make callouts in the roadmap page of the software itself.

Does it cover VFR? Because I see that it always connects to simbrief

I am getting a "Cannot establish connection with server" error when I try to login:

lFPxGYj.png

I was able to get past it by using a VPN and selecting a different location. But I prefer not to use a VPN. Oh well, I hope they fix this issue. It's a deal breaker for me, because I can't even buy BeyondATC (and if I try to buy BeyondATC with my credit card while using VPN with a different country selected, I may get a call from my bank).

The interesting thing is, I was able to create an account and username without my VPN. It looks like their server for creating a username, and trying to register a new account, is a different server than whatever server you connect to past the login page.

BATC offers no traffic options at all. It's just you and ATC for now.

BATC is IFR only and SimBrief is mandatory.

And the biggest one so far

Main problems in the beta were bad vectoring, bad descend instructions, losing contact and various problems due to incomplete airport data (like no taxi instructions). All that is still there in the EA. And these were/are show stopping problems. Of course there also still are problems with odd/wrong phraseology, basic voices that speak English phonetically (and hence often can't be understood), ATC not correcting you, no real button control, etc. Not much has changed since I left the beta, that's for sure. So it's not a real problem I can't buy it yet, haha!

I have done my first few flights with BATC today. Overall I'd say I really like it, the voices (basic, but especially premium) are very good and definitely a very big step up from the basic ATC. That said, does feel very much like work in progress:

- On departure, I could not change the departing runway. Was departing EHAM with in reality 36L for departures and 27 for landings, but BATC would give me 27 for departure and had no way of changing it. I get BATC can't always guess what runway in use is in reality, but would be good to be able to change it at least by myself.

- Similar on arrival into LSZH, gave me a different runway from reality (which from a wind perspective did make sense) and couldn't change so just went with it. However, got a rather odd ILS clearance whilst not even on intercept heading but following the transition and kept me way too high. After reading back the ILS clearance, there was no further contact, not asking me to contact tower or get landing clearance at all. Also on ground when I tuned ground frequency, my scenery apparently didn't support any stand (LSZH by FSDT) which seemed odd.

- Looking forward to seeing it in action with other traffic as after a few flights I felt it already gets a bit "generic" - climb/descent clearances from 6000ft straight to FL370 so not much interaction at all and just following the standard procedures.

- The characters using the premium voices seem to go down a lot quicker than you'd think!

However overall I'd still say good start and looking forward to further development.
