BeyondATC Released (EA)

BATC offers no traffic options at all. It's just you and ATC for now.

BATC is IFR only and SimBrief is mandatory.

Main problems in the beta were bad vectoring, bad descend instructions, losing contact and various problems due to incomplete airport data (like no taxi instructions). All that is still there in the EA. And these were/are show stopping problems. Of course there also still are problems with odd/wrong phraseology, basic voices that speak English phonetically (and hence often can't be understood), ATC not correcting you, no real button control, etc. Not much has changed since I left the beta, that's for sure. So it's not a real problem I can't buy it yet, haha!

I am not sure, but you seem a little bit grumpy that BATC is getting  a pretty calm release. Sounds like you want it to crash and burn after leaving/getting ejected from the beta.

On their Discord things are surprisingly cool, calm and collected to be on release day.

You guys must have all missed the part where the dev put it to a vote and the majority asked them to release early. Several of us said yes, release early but just be prepared for the dogpile of people

Greetings all, I just wanted to drop a few things after scrolling through this thread😁. When I'm not slipping the surly bonds, I do my secondary job as a product manager doing software development int

It's back to FSHud for me.

Though I dont regret the $30 to support the developer.

Unfortunately without AI control or even AI interaction the flights leave a lot to be desired unless you want to fly in an empty world.  I flew Manchester to Paphos. On leaving Manchester I was routed into oncoming traffic taxying and had to take off into traffic.

My callsign Channex 1 was occasionally not picked up on handovers.  Perhaps my mic, as I do voiceover work I dont think I have an unclear voice!

Routing was pretty cool, I was vectored for an ILS approach into Paphos about 10 nautical miles away from where I should have ended up, and about 5,000 feet too high.  I called ready for descent well before the top of descent and descended on a VNAV profile, and then quickly when I was vectored.  I was still too high and miles to the left.  It was a bit of a stuttery mess too for some reason.  It doesnt control traffic so I guess not down to BATC.

I love the accents and the immersion that brings.  The premium voice chunks get depleted really quickly however.

I don't really have the desire to fly in empty skies.  None of this is surprising to me, they are very honest about what the product includes or doesn't.  I shall try it again in a few months no doubt.

Only dimly aware of BATC and its rivals as I prefer VATSIM for controlled flight.

Am I right in thinking that (a) BATC promises eventually to give better performance with AI traffic but (b) this early release doesn’t bring this advantage?

There is absolutely no interaction with or control of AI traffic from BATC at the moment.

Get FSLTL, it's free, and you can have as much AI as you want.

Yeah I used it with FSLTL.  I just dont see the point when there is absolutely no interaction with BATC and AI traffic. As the immersion breaks when you get routed into an Easyjet A319. (I know this isn't a secret.  I'm glad I had a try with the software).

It is very rare that this happens to me, and I do about 15-20 IFR flights per week.

The ideal conditions at manchester were winds light and variable.  So there was no real rhyme or reason for a runways being assigned.  Simbrief says use this runway, tells BATC, and MSFS and FSLTL have other ideas.

Sure, but in fairness, there are a number of apps that need to be run as admin, FSHud is one that also needs to be run as admin.

Nope.

The ATC I use, tells me the active runway, and that is what FSLTL uses.

No.

FSHud controls FSLTL traffic.

BATC does not (yet).

If I am grumpy it's because I can't buy BATC because i have no CC, haha! I don't want BATC to crash and burn, I want it to become great. I just can't stand people not being honest about their experiences with BATC and I simply say so. If something is bad or wrong, you should say so. Simple as that. That also was the reason I left the beta (at my own will: I wasn't ejected): they didn't like my honesty. (They used another word for it, haha!) But all I said during the beta I said to make BATC better.

The only reason I regret my decision (to leave the beta) is that I didn't get my free copy of BATC, haha! Should have waited two more weeks. But at that time the release certainly wasn't expected within two weeks. Not sure what cause the hurried release.

Curious to see if they can suddenly and magically solve those bugs within a few days now BATC is EA.

Where was the expectation set that it is bug-free within "a few days?" It's EA. That means it's beta, not gold-release.

Anyone who buys an early access game expecting all bugs to be fixed within a few days of early access launch has only themselves to be annoyed at. It's certainly not their job to meet other peoples' unreasonable expectations.

True! My point was the mentioned bugs in the EA version are very old bugs and that some people on Discord expect things to be solvved quickly. That won't happen. I honestly expected EA to be a bit better than the beta but it simply is what it was.

Before I pull the trigger, I have a quick question for you early adopters:

Can I route the ATC audio to separate speakers or to a headset?

I watched a setup video and saw no audio output options in the UI.

Perhaps it follows the in sim audio settings to accomplish this?
