FUN! NO WAY LEFT HAND! :)

Recommended Posts

As crazy as it sounds, but I am unable to fly with left hand.....LOL. This is my second attempt to switch but it is so difficult. I read and watching some videos where real pilots saying that is easy switch. But it is so hard for Joystick to hold in left hand. I am all over the place.

Anyone tried? And what are experiences....mine are terrible so far... 😔

I mostly fly the Fenix Airbus so put my stick on the left and throtles on the right. No problem here. OK flying GA as well with stick on the left.

I'm right handed and it may sound crazy but when was working on my CFI it was hard for me to get to fly with right hand  at first. LOL Give it some time - usually it takes few hours

Sidestick with left hand I'm helpless, just like with the mouse. Yoke is much much better.

Since the TCA I left the right seat and only left and it's the same left or right no difference here local...

My whole setup is pretty much a right seat setup.  The origin is my thrustmaster warthog which is right handed, and my setup evolved around that.  Now throttles are always on the left.

Maybe someday I’ll make Captain! 🙂

No problem whatsoever switching hands (left/right seat in an airplane).

But to calibrate the different sight picture, oh dear. In right seat, steep turns were a complete mess and I felt totally unworthy carrying my pilot license. (Also, reaching for the alternate static in a DA40 from right seat is an awkward ergonomic exercise)

It's just matter of practice, your brain will get used to it after a while.

I had a fear of sidesticks until i flew Cirrus for the first time. Frankly I was shocked it just like a yoke or precisely half of it ! LOL

A few years back as a challenge I decided to spend a whole year flying only in FO seat. Moved my throttles to the left and yoke to the right and adjusted all views accordingly. The views were the most jarring but soon got used to them. Humans are naturally adaptable when mirroring actions right to left (or else more tourists would crash cars!).

Some pretty horrific experiments on animals I recall from Psychology studies as a youngster backed this adaptability up. If all your parts are in working order you should have no problem if you stick with it!

I did the switch a while back and the first week was a struggle but now I can't even imagine flying right handed

My setup remains in place full-time so whether I am flying an Airbus or not it is (left to right): Thrustmaster Airbus TCA stick, Fulcrum Yoke, TM Airbus Throttle, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle. So I have no choice but to use the stick left-handed! And I am totally used to it (though sometimes I am 'naughty' and fly an Airbus with the yoke.🤫
