Blackbird Simulations T6A ADV For MSFS

So is there no love for this one at all? Doesn't seem to have made much of a mark in any of the forums.

That is odd isn’t it.

I don’t usually do much sim stuff during summer but have been waiting for this one for a while, as the British summer seems absent again this year I might have to turn the computer on and buy it early rather than waiting for autumn.

I’d be very interested in hearing about it too.

  • Well, just fired up the computer and bought this , and I have to say it's cracking. I've been waiting to try this for a while as I though it would be good, and it's actually better than I expected.

I have it now and I'm inclined to agree. I think this one is a bit special. And yes, you do feel like you are in a real aircraft which is so rare in MSFS. I actually feel excited about firing up MSFS

It's great in 2024. A very overlooked add on in my opinion. Challenging to fly well and stunning modelling, textures and sound.

Not much on YouTube either which is unusual these days for a new release.

Looks like a neat airplane, but I have a lot of military airplanes sitting in the hanger on idle. No mission to fly, no pax cargo to deliver ..Looking forward for Milviz Huey !

It's a lovely plane but it is the steam gauge version and not with a glass cockpit.
Iris has made the glass version but that one does not appeal to me.

IMHO, I like the modelling and texturing better on the Blackbird version.

Only just a quick blast out of Valley around Snowdonia, but you can usually tell within just a couple of minutes if something is either really bad or really good, something mediocre takes a while to get an impression.

The T6A is undoubtably in the very good camp, it's one of those rare add ons that comes along every so often that just feels like you're handling a real aircraft.

There's a comprehensive manual that can be downloaded from the Blackbird website without purchase that I'm going to enjoy reading and flying this by the book and flying procedurally.

For just under £35 UK this one is going to provide hours and hours of flying so offers great value for money to me at least.

I'm a massive fan of the ADV aircraft with the T38A ADV in P3D keeping my brain and real world flying skills alive during 2020 when grounded.

Again only a brief flight so far but from what I've seen I'd heartily recommend the T6A if you fancy a military trainer, and it has the best prop disc animations I've seen so far in this sim !

Does it now allow custom views?  Are there any other bugs you notice?

I’m not sure as I use VR.

I’ve not noticed anything buggy  but only flown it for about an hour so far, it’s very pleasant to handle.

This the version that was available for download when I bought it so may explain why I’ve not seen any bugs.

I actually feel excited about firing up MSFS just to fly her which hasn't happened for so long.  Visually stunning, sounds stunning and simply incredible to fly. It's such a shame there were a few early bugs which seems to have put people off but, for me this is up there with the very best. Not sure about the landing just yet as it seems to hit the ground and stick like a magnet but everything else is first rate.

I read the recommendations above so went to the Blackbird website to purchase it - kept failing with a server error.

This will be my first military aircraft but several of you are very impressed.  I was particularly drawn by the thought it is one of those aircraft that feel like it is moving through air.

@St Mawgan

Ah good, I’m glad you like it, these things are obviously very subjective so I’m pleased you share my enthusiasm.

To me the simulation has a certain gravitas to it, with every switch and circuit breaker fully simulated it feels real.

Only scratched the surface so far, other than setting up a timed engine issue , which was impressive to see the prop auto feather. I think it’s going to make a good instrument practice platform.

I know what you mean about the landing, I feel the same, it just sticks on, apparently it needs a bit of a fly level phase prior to retarding the throttle and flaring, not tried it yet to see if it works , but I’ve been receiving professional T6 training from the US navy😉 …….https://www.youtube.com/@t-6primaryvidsgriffsgouge837/videos

Yes, it took me 3 attempts to get it downloaded, slightly concerning as you only get 10 downloads.

It’s worth it if you can persevere.

I’m on the lookout for an RAF livery, I know they use the C version but it’s near enough!

Secondly, following the checklist for startup, when I click on the Avionics switch to turn the Avionics ON

I get absolutely no displays at all . . I have tried uninstalling and re-installing a couple of times now

I had the same issue. There’s a selection on the iPad to turn off instruments in the cockpit you’re not using , front or rear, to save on performance. I found selecting auto fixed the issue for me.
