So it takes them over a year since first announcement and then they go for early access again. This is really a plague.

Releasing unfinished software because you run out of money...

Well, I suppose that is a valid reason!    I doubt if I will buy the early access though as it just isn't good enough even at that stage.  I would rather just pay a bit more for it if I eventually like the finished product.  Simple as that.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

  • This is not my usual type of plane to fly but I might get it just because of all the fun MicroProse gave me going back to the 80s!

  • Wow! Who remember this?

I said to myself when moving over to 2024, i was no longer going to buy early access. I have been burnt many times with 2020, not again.

At the risk of making this a topic for people to explain ad nauseum why they don't like early access (you can wait for the final product and decide then, everyone, I promise!), here's a review of the beta product:

For $33 I am in just to support this bird...  I almost want to open all the windows, crank the AC and give myself frostbite while flying it for accuracy!

Really depends on the dev’s past performance, frankly.

E.g., I bought the BBS C-130J “Alpha” and that’s turned out pretty well (esp given the steep EA discount).

but Microprose (and whoever the actual dev is) has been out of the game for too long to jump right in on this one.

and with Flying Iron having one in the pipeline for awhile now, I’m not feeling “desperate” to grab this one unless it proves itself.

Anyone getting a virus detected when downloading the B17 from JF?

Yep, it's the B-17 model itself ! Nasty one ! "Early Access" ??.... The proper phrase should be "Half Baked Access" ! (this dev didn't even bother to make the wheels turn. Here we go, skidding down the runway !....{ haven't actually seen that since.....FS4 (1989))

According to what I've read at Sim Outhouse, the Flying Iron B-17G is on hold until they decide whether there is room for another one in the sim. This is unfortunate, because I'm sure their model would be superior to this Microprose one.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

Yep - she's a bit rough around the edges.  Here's to hoping that a heap of the issues are fixed in their update 1 in two weeks

The solution is then not to buy it in EA.

If it makes enough money in EA to be completed then you can purchase it when it's ready plus you have a plane that might not have been created at all if the devs couldn't sustain the entire process without generating funds during developent.
