    I already uninstalled everything and wiped hard drives to send computer to recycling. Going to buy a new computer, install everything, and see if that fixes it.

Live weather just popped up for me and am being forced to update the game to start a new flight. Server is back on.

What's weird is I can get to the main menu fine if I empty my community folder

Obviously working again for a few lucky folks. If it's any consolation, the MS Forum has posts from affected users all across North America and a lot of Europe. So it's clearly not going to be a 10-minute fix. Status update page gave me a chuckle:
