Your setting are are saved in the cloud so it makes complete sense that they are missing if there are server troubles. The bigger question is whether the settings should be saved on your computer as the primary source and 'also' saved in the cloud as a backup.

FSUIPC7 or the other one who's name escapes me. All my controls are handled by it. Buttons, axis and profiles. Microsoft, do your worst!

Frustrating for sure.

BTW: As of 8:25 PM ET. Xbox is still saying there is an issue and it is taking 'longer than anticipated' to resolve. It would probably be best to just avoid FS until they get it fully squared away. It is still quite possible that people's settings will magically be OK again once everything on the server end is working properly. Who knows what the heck is going on right now. Equipment issue, bad code in an update, some kind of hacking? IDK. Just speculation at this point.

Grammar correction.

I'm able to get into the sim and fly but the scenery is not loading very well as I fly... something still kaput.

For me, It has been working without issues for the last few hours.

Mine has just come back plus a couple of updates to WU? USA. Anyway back to normal till the next time. (Settings intact btw)

For those of you that just can't take it anymore or are worried about them having us over a barrel, I saw that xplane is getting (or already has) photogrammetry.  Maybe a little relief to know there could be an alternative if things get worse.

Please. Let's not get this started again.

PSA: If you boot up the game and it reset your settings / profile!

There's a fix that will bring back your bindings, logbook, etc. Won't bring back the graphics and some other minor settings however.

1) Basically go through the set up steps until you get to the main menu.

2) Click on your profile top right corner

3) Select "sign out"

4) It will take you to the splash screen and ask you to login again. Do so.

It worked for me and I have my bindings back.

They are saved somewhere in the PC I guess, sometimes MSFS ask me for to load and choose between the Cloud saved settings or in the PC saved settings, maybe controllers still not included. I don´t remember if in a DATA folder in MSFS, I think I read somewhere to someone.

This morning (France), XBox app has been repaired, but MSFS don't start online (I get the screen asking to insert a disc). 

Edit : seems to be fixed. I get a mandatory update.

Glad I jogged your memory! Whenever there is a major outage and excuses are made, I always suspect the reality is more embarrassing.

My comment was based on my own experience from the 90's when an engineer from a well-known British communications company was attempting to leave a large room full of communications equipment. Under a sign saying 'EMERGENCY POWER SHUTOFF', he raised the perspex flap over a large, red, mushroom shaped button and pressed it.

The company who owned the comms room put a framed copy of the compensation cheque on the wall.

I'd rather go truck-simming than switch to XP after 4 years of MSFS.  Even though they've made huge changes, it's still apples and pears.
