PMDG 737 Now Unflyable

Featured Replies

Since SU15, like many others, I have been experiencing the yoke stuck hard to the left and some instruments unclickable, once the flight has loaded. A simple restart of the flight, has previously worked, but for some reason, this no longer happens. The plane is now unflyable and no longer works. I have tried reinstalling the aircraft but this has made no difference. It appears as a known issue on the PMDG forum, but to date, no update has been released. I have also tried flying without FSUIPC, thinking this could be the culprit, and also removing all liveries apart from the default, sadly neither approach worked. Any feedback would be appreciated.

A ticket with PMDG is probably your best and quickest route. Chris and team in support are pretty good at staying with an issue until resolved.

Sure, I posted a comment in an ongoing thread which is running with the issue. The thread was joined by Mathijs Kok and he informed that PMDG are aware of the problem and are looking into it. I thought I'd see on here if anyone knew something that I didn't 😉

Just a thought.. Is your default state Cold & Dark? I haven't had it freeze on load, but have in flight. Since then I have left the transponder on ALT and had no issue. So wondering if you are loading into a state with the transponder on...

Funnily enough though had a similar freeze in the MD11 the other day. Makes me think it's more a MSFS issue than a PMDG one, hence the delayed fix...

Yeah, default state is cold & dark.

I had the same issue last year with the 738, the only thing that fixed it for me, was to reinstall the aircraft. But likely some other issue now.

Well that rules that one out then.

Find it very odd I've never had it happen.

Have you emptied out your community folder, see if that helps?

Yup! EDIT: I'm just doing some more tests as I type and notice there is a small MS update... (?) I wonder...  EDIT; Nope, no difference whatsoever! Stuck here with being unable to fly my fave plane 😡

Have you tried starting the flight with a different aircraft, then restarting with the 737.

I noticed that when I forget to select the 737 before starting a flight 🙄 and then restart the flight with the 737, it usually starts OK.

I think the problem is with checking activation so maybe yours is busted?

Did you try with an empty Community folder?

I don’t think you can do anything right now. The 737s have all kind of problems since SU15. All of them are random and don’t affect all people all the time. Apparently PMDG is working with Microsoft on a fix but no timetable on when to expect a fix. They are still investigating. We will have to sit tight and wait for an update. I guess they are busy with their 777. So I don’t expect anything fast.

Try starting a flight with Apron and see if that works.

Looks like a fix next week:

PMDG 737 for MSFS:
As we were approaching release of the 777, MSFS SU15 arrived, which included some platform changes that unmasked a couple of problems that would cause the aircraft to become unresponsive, even though the simulator remained running. A simple way to describe this is that there were a number of changes on the platform-side that increased the platform's sensitivity to certain C++ code issues that other compilers didn't stumble on. We saw these problems appear magically in both the 777 and 737 simultaneously, so we kept our focus on finding/fixing them on the 777 in order to get maximum benefit from the effort- and with today's 777 update we are pretty certain we have knocked down the known triggers.

While working on 777, we have been applying these same cures to 737, and in a few hours we will be pushing updates for the entire fleet of 737s off to the beta team to validate so that we can issue new updates to the 737 series next week. This should cure all known "freeze" behaviors in the 737, including the long-sought-after cure for the TCAS RA freeze that we have been chasing for the better part of 2024. (That one appeared after SU11, i think? But was so obscure it took until we saw a mass proliferation of trouble with SU15 for us to be able to find it!)

Look for these updates to roll out in the first half of next week.

Howard, I have a workaround I have been using .  It is similar to the "esc, reload" solution given by others, but since I have always had developer mode on, this is the fastest way to reload an aircraft.

My solution has been to turn on Developer mode.  You will then see a menu across the top of the screen.   Tools -> Aircraft Selector.  Scroll or search for your model/livery.  Double click on it.  Aircraft reloads.

This has successfully reset the aircraft for me each time it had loaded in a frozen state.  A couple of times, but very rarely, I have had to re-reload twice.
