MSFS Is today's Destination your tomorrow's Departure?

I'd say "yes" I fly from where I previously stopped...however, I will also pause and do a flight nowhere near me quite often.

For example, right now in the FS world I am on Wrangel Island (Russian far east), exploring the last refuge of the Woolly Mammoth as recently as the time of the ancient Egyptians.

But yesterday I took time out and ran a Fedex flight in the A300-600R from KOKC to KMEM.

I think if I strictly flew from the last place I stopped, I would really limit myself.  I could not have flown the newly-upgraded A300 from Wrangel Island, where there are no airfields.

No. I start where I choose to. Following on, as in real life, is more realistic of course, but it is also time consuming. One new place each flight instead of two with a new flight.  I also

  • I always fly on A Pilots LIfe and usually fly continuous trips, departing from where I just landed.

  • If I use Neo Fly then YES!

I would like those features, and this is exactly how I use the sim. I did not want to do just another around the world. With the new graphics, I wanted to see the world. Four years ago, I left my home airport of KRYY (Atlanta, GA) and today I am at VDPP (Phnom Penh, Cambodia). Mostly fly the Baron G58 but will take out the CJ4 or King Air if it is a long way to my next destination. I will make it back home one day in the next version.

What I think is strange, is how MSFS start screen does keep a list of past airports visited, but it's never the LAST airport you visited, it's always two airports back.   I think that's strange, and possibly a bug, but I'm not sure.

It's like if I flew from KESN to KMTN, then from KMTN to KMDT.  And next time I start the sim, KMTN is top on the pull-down list of airports....*not* KMDT.  I don't know, maybe that's by design.

Absolutely.  I use the flight generation tool in Pilots Life V2 and PMDG's 737-700

So far it has been

Exeter, UK

Zakynthos, Greece

Poznan, Poland

Izmir, Turkey

Samsun, Turkey

Istanbul, Turkey

I once flew in legs from Cape Town to Exeter, UK in a C152.

You are corrrect.  That is the core of what I am seeking change to.  Asobo has chosen to show History, not logic.  So they are showing you your past three flights as if expecting you to fly them again, next.  I would like to see them move the list on the right (where you have just flown To) into the list on the left.  You may also see on the left that after listing your three most recent departure airports, it follows with Suggestions.  I don't mind that, but if they can show multiple lists in that column then why not also have users designate and show an airport or two as Favorites -or- Home Airports.

BTW. What is your locaton?  KESN is the airport closest to me here on the Eastern Shore.  And I see like me you have been a member here since the site was hacked and subsequently restored in 2003.

I fly about 12 different aircraft, in P3D I used to just save where I left them and reload when I next flew them. For MSFS I record where I parked them, and create a new flight to do the next one.

So airframe persistence rather than my personal location.

On my side it doesn't even do that.  When I go to search my destination airport none of them include my previous searches.  I don't think I have ever seen my last searched destination airports in the search history.  MSFS seems to have a very short memory LOL

I'm near KCGI.   I just used KESN as an example because it was below your avatar.  That is true, I have been here since before the '03 hack, I have been here since the beginning, so far back I can't remember what year it was.  I do remember "Mike Marando's Flight Sim Uploads", and the Indiana University of Pennsylvania file archive (ftp.iup.edu) and somehow, I think that became the AVSIM file library.  And here we are.

Only when I fly some of the IVAO or VATSIM tours. If I fly offline I fly wherever I feel like.

Hi. Not sure how that is an answer to the question.  Can you explain?

When flying the same plane on it's next leg, yes.

i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200,  RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024

Nope - I just fly where I have scenery - I really dislike default airports.  Sometimes I fly to show off new scenery or an airplane.

Definitely not, no more so than I always fly in real time, never use time accel, etc.  To my mind, the entire point of the sim is that it removes these types of real-world restrictions.
