Looks like iniBuilds will be MSFS exclusive going forward

Featured Replies

So I just read this from iniBuilds:

We had a good conversation with Thomson Meeks at LR a few weeks ago, and at this time whilst there is no plan to develop further products for X-Plane, the door is always open and things were left on a good note.

So it looks like going forward, iniBuilds will be exclusively developing new products for MSFS only (I believe they will still support their A300 and Beluga in XP 12 though). I have to admit, iniBuilds has been a huge boon to MSFS.  3 years ago, if you told me that iniBuilds would be a huge part of why MSFS is successful, I wouldn't have guessed it.  But as of 2024, they are a huge reason why MSFS is so successful.  Since they started focusing on MSFS, their scenery team went from 5 scenery developers to 27 scenery developers. IniBuilds today is probably one of the most prominent scenery developers for MSFS, it's crazy how they went from no sceneries for MSFS to becoming one of the most dominant scenery developers for MSFS.

I especially look forward to their A350, A380, Beluga, and A400M for MSFS. Really happy that iniBulds jumped on board MSFS and I look forward to all their future products for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 👍

As far as I know, iniBuilds are not being paid for their A350 and A380 for MSFS by Microsoft (ie. there is no contract between Microsoft and iniBuilds for the A350 and A380). Those are independent releases for MSFS, just like the A300 was an independent release for MSFS.

And for most of iniBuild's sceneries, they are not being paid for those sceneries by Microsoft either.

Is this breaking news? We knew this a week ago from their discord

You mean Microsoft they foot the bill for Asobo and many other developers.

I'm super happy that those two planes are not being commissioned by asobo.  I really have not been a super fan of those.  Whether it's airports or scenery.  The A300 vs A310 is the perfect example.  We get better aircraft/scenery straight from the dev as opposed to the ones from asobo.  I'd rather pay.  All in all inibuilds has been a great thing for our hobby.

I only saw this recently.  But did they announce this in Discord though? The link I have is from their forum posting.

Good scenery and aircraft, but in some of them, they're still way to go in terms of performance/optimization

True. The performance of the iniBuilds airliners have not been the best. I wonder why they haven't pinpointed what the common performance issues among all their airliners. I think they are aware of it though, but they have yet to come up with a solution that can improve the performance of all their airliners in MSFS.

KLAX is the one that I think needs to most love right now.  Landed there this morning with zero AI.  Usually I don't see any performance hits.  but could there.

iniBuilds is a dev that goes balls to the walls on visuals then asks questions later. The good thing is that on their last blog post, they indicated that they have heard the complaints loud and clear and that moving forward, things will be better. The first indication of this is the A300 which recently got an optimization update that really did they trick. They've also said that the A350 will be released with better performance than previous products and they will be going back to optimize all of their products that have been released already.

Concerning the OP, I saw this coming the minute the CEO said on the livestream that the XP planes would be getting a permanent price drop and the future of their work on the platform would be discussed later. Another clear indication of what is pretty obvious and sure to get much worse when 2024 drops.

inibuilds filled the gap for Asobo, and the flightsim market need developers to do quality aircrafts and sceneries at a faster pace to catch up with the demands...especially with 2024 coming up.

Sometimes it is just unrealistic to spend 3 to 4 years on a product to completion...yes you get every details and system simulations, but ultimately, how many of you actually be able to notice how the systems work and simulate an emergency when you are flying your PMDG 777 or 737 if you so have one?  Many of us are just wanting to setup the plane you wanted to fly to, with a good working FMC and start flying to your destinations.  Maybe learning your flight planning and studying the SID and STAR charts to help the experience.

I am sure a lot of us are eagerly waiting for their A350 and FBW A380 (a free product) to do their flying, but unfortunately, because of the demand for hi-fi planes, it is preventing developers to release it a decent flyable plane to the public and then getting backslashes on social media and affecting their sales in the end....

Flightsim can be a hobby and for can used for studying the system itself prior to for the actual type training...but how many of the MSFS or Flightsim users are the real world pilot that can take advantage of these specific hi-fi planes?  I am sure they are out there, but not the majority of us...flightsim is nothing compared to full flight simulators.

Inibuilds now has the man power to keep up with the demand and rightfully so, they should be able to have many products on the pipeline for the coming future for Asobo.  Yes, some of their products do need optimizations, but i am sure they will learn to get better at it as it comes along.

Just my 2 cents....

This is a matter of taste, I don't need variety if I have one or two addons with extreme detail and quality, fortunately there are enough addons already of a very high level in MFS, X-Plane or P3D to have years of study and entertainment.

That's interesting how the translate (Google Translate?) incorrectly translated this ...  the plural of aircraft is aircraft, and the use of "demands" there should be "demand".

Inibuilds does a good job, overall.  Sometimes I worry that they take on too much though, to where the quality would suffer.  The sim world would be much worse without ini doing all of this, and some other development house doing it instead.

Yup, so true.  I think iniBuilds tested the water with XP 12 when they converted the A300 and Beluga to XP 12. Of course, the XP 11 owners got the conversions for free so they wouldn't end up as new customers for iniBuilds. But iniBuilds probably wanted to see how many new purchases they would get in XP 12 when they converted those planes. Most likely, it didn't sell well in XP 12 (factoring in XP 11 owners of those planes got it for XP 12 for free of course).  This would be consistent with Just Flight and Thandra reporting their conversion of planes to XP 12 have not sold well.  So iniBuilds probably decided to drop future XP 12 projects and go with MSFS, because their sales in MSFS have been very strong (well, it has to be strong for their scenery department at least if they went from 5 scenery developers to 27 scenery developers when they started focusing on MSFS for scenery development).  MSFS is where the money is, so you really can't fault iniBuilds for their decision of where to make future products for.

Dear @abrams_tank, don't get me wrong, but these posts of yours always look like more then enjoying MSFS 2020, you hate X-Plane ?

I can somehow understand your rationale because as "The Uninstaller" I hate all flightsims, each one at a time ... but heck ! you look like your main goal is to try to show how successful MSFS is, and how completely broken XP goes... (which btw is far from being the reality, at least regarding X-Plane...).

This probably stems from some bad experience you had in the past with XP, or simply the fact that somehow you never believed in that platform, or even you did and were deeply disappointed at some point, but there are others who think differently, others who enjoy both platforms and can actually find good reasons to use them all plus a few other flightsims, and there are guys like me who can always feel disappointed with all of them for this or for that.

Regarding Inibuilds, I honestly didn't like their products for XP11... Bought the Beluga and the A310, but seldom used either... and I honestly seldom use their MSFS A32N... and the 310 was hangared for good after a few sessions trying to enjoy it... I didn't buy the 300 as I don't believe I would feel more satisfied, so, I couldn't really care less if they are abandoning XP... I would care a lot more about FSLabs or Active Sky saying they would no longer support Prepar3d ... I am used to PMDG abandoning platforms like they did with Fly! 2 after users believed in their will to develop the 767 and the 757, and now they just did with their P3D line of products, leaving users with the pants in their hands ... but then, their products are GOOD! and I have to close my eyes to their sometimes irritating business strategies and enjoy what they deliver ...
