Maybe if some of you guys would make a donation to help provide more bandwidth it would help. This stuff is not free.

Site has been very shaky for months. Started with occasional speed issues, errors that would disappear after a single refresh, remember one night everything looked like it was 500% size, to now it's having major speed and load issues to downtime lasting hours. Something has been going on behind the scenes with the server for a long time and it isn't just extra traffic.

That is why we are bombarded with ads is it not?  I for one will not be donating again while these ads exist. 

And the post above is definately another reason.

Get an adblocker. I have seen no ads whatsoever.

I'm sure if Avsim has been experiencing technical  issues over the last few days, due to lack of funding, they'd tell us.

Perhaps it's better not to call people out based on speculation..

Technical difficulties are common. 

I just checked the donation page and AVSIM has only reached 43% of its $3,000 goal for the year.

Anyone complaining should donate at least $5.  It costs money to maintain a website like AVSIM with a forum and file library.

I would also ask the AVSIM managers to post more details about operating costs and how the donation money is being spent.

Another option might be to launch a targeted funding campaign to upgrade the server and/or forum software.

Disabling the File Library to make the Main Site function faster, even for a couple days, is just "robbing Peter to pay Paul".

In reality, the entire Site needs to be revamped with new Software just like the other Sites have done, but doing that is a monumental Task requiring many hours of work and people willing to help out to make the change seamless as possible.

Well, yes. Donations are required. But there's no evidence that the current technical issues are related to funding.

This. And the proxy errors I've been seeing regularly are not due to a network bandwidth issue.

Well, technically speaking the issues may not be related *directly* to a lack of funding. 

However, even if the actual monetary cost to fixing something is zero, there is still someone's time spent fixing it, and time is money.
