A lot of people are putting I feel too much weight on the video footage.

Agree completely.

  • Not even released yet, and the complaining already starts.

  • Did we really need another thread for more questions?  It's not like there aren't enough FS2024 threads already including a 23 page release thread with questions...

  • Having tested FS2024, I can agree that I'm much more inclined to believe Sebastian Wloch's word than yours.

When they give us new build, the performance tanks and stutters begin. Thats the main road of msfs2020, is it also for msfs2024?

When will the first rayban sunglasses addon come to msfs2024. I think that the less serious gamers are overpopulating the scene, lol

I didn't realize they'd set it for 2028, I guess that's good they have a hard limit set already.

FYI, a couple of the YouTubers/media did confirm your suspicion that it's an older build.

Though they apparently did fix a sim breaking bug between recording secessions. While the youtubers were out doing the grand canyon tour.

The red guy, or a different one? I loved the red guy, I hope they make him available as an avatar as an April fools joke or something.

Well we are all different, and have different thresholds to what we find distracting.  This one I really don't like, as your eyes are naturally drawn to the beautiful new scenery, then bam, it pops in / morphs right in front of your eyes.

Also, they might not need to sacrifice anything.  Orbx had a system that seemed to reduce this morphing / popping in some of their scenery, New Zealand, which I had, seemed better.
Orbx even talked about how they achieved this compared to Asobo, with little or zero performance impact.  So don't you think they should even look at improving it?
To me, trying to prevent this morphing / pop-in should come first, otherwise you just have the same pop-in with just a better texture when it pops in.  I don't follow the logic.

As a note, I don't use any FG either as I find the artifacts distracting also.  I have just bought the Lossless Scaling app from Steam, but I haven't tried it yet.

Yep all different.  For me as a score-focused simmer I am very focused on the runway and primary flight display and readying for landing.  Much farther out and I don't see a lot of popping in at all.   Since we're chatting about this now I took note of my initial and final approach into pay ware KIAH in the PMDG 738, all Ultra, DynamicTLOD set to go from 60 on the ground to 200 at AGL 18000, Render Scale 150.   Houston is a huge city with a lot of development but it's not too demanding overall.  I noticed not a single pop-in/morph anywhere.  Rare short stutter here and there but retained 45fps easily.   So this is fairly typical and once again, don't really notice it though certainly have seen pop-in behavior.  Maybe it's a function of demand on servers?

Here's where I think we differ:  I really do trust MS/Asobo knows far more than anyone here about where to focus for their end game.  They of course notice pop-in when it happens, and once again, I often see zero pop-ins and I'm pretty maxed out for my display resolution and settings.  Why, do you suppose the issue still exists?  You don't have a clue.  Could be it's based again on server related capacities and so forth.  I essentially trust their wisdom on most everything and they have vastly more knowledge about all of it, than you or I do.  Does that mean everything they do always meets MY priorities?  Of course not.

Yes you can for example;
C:\MSFS2020\Packages\Community
C:|MSFS2024\Packages\Community

And then I suppose we could use two copies of addons linker - one for each sim.

The Red guy from what I heard.

I've been flightsimming for awhile. I remember when FSX came out. Absolutely nobody on Amazon said they could run it without stutters.

Back then, computers were advancing in technology faster each year compared to today. So most games and sims designed games to run on the computers of the future. People were on Avsim bragging that they could get 30 fps and water cooling was new.

Everybody was saying that Intel tested each individual cpu, and the ones that could take higher speeds became the overclocking versions.

2020 MSFS struggled with hardware of its time, 2000 series RTX. 2024 will too, probably.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

A 5 minute tutorial how to 'set up' a Fly-By view ??..... Isn't that totally rediculous !?...

Normally,in a flight simulator you have a Camera menu from which you can select VC, External, Fly-By (also via key of course). That's it really... That's how it used to be in FSX, P3D, FS9 and before. If you need a third party program to 'set up' a Fly-By camera and you need a 5 minute tutorial to learn how to do that something stinks, doesn't it.

Atm, after seeing some of the MSFS2024 preview video's popping up, i'm afraid Fly-By camera fans can forget about it for another 4 years. And forget about FCR as well when it comes to a Fly-By view. It's called a Beta in the current FCR version and it's even more cumbersome to set up than it is to do that with that MSFS Drone thingy. It looks very much like MSFS is just too complex for a smooth working Fly-By camera view to integrate. That's why Asobo won't touch such a camera feature with a barge pole.. Who ever has heard Jorge Neumann speak the words "Fly-By" ?..

It's "Fly-By Bye-Bye" as far as MSFS and MSFS24 are concerned, atleast the  easy 'One Click Instant Fly-By View'. Better get used to it, guys, or fly DCS, now THAT's an easy one click Fly-By camera ! Best i've seen sofar ! ( possibly because not even half as complex as MSFS scenerywise aka not complex at all....)

To each his own...I've never used "flyby" even when available in FSX/P3D. Sorry if it makes or breaks your day.

Well, call yourself lucky, my friend. And sure, to each his own. Also one of the reasons no instant fly-by in msfs and probabely neither in msfs24. You are no doubt part of the mucho much bigger camp of simmers that could'nt care less about a fly-by camera option then i am, the few poor suckers waiting in their soaking wet tents for a glimpse of a possible fly-by camera option in msfs2024 just because they love to see their take-offs and landings from alongside the runway so much. They can never enjoy their beloved flight simulator as much as those from that other camp, those who don't even have a clue of what this sad bunch of simmers is talking about.

"See yourself in your own plane take-off and/or land ???....What kind of nonsense is that ??... " "You're the pilot for Pete's sake !! Not some kind of airplane spotter loser !! "

Sorry, hs118, i always get carried away a little bit when i talk about my favourite missing subject in MSFS. Sad to say that i can't advice you to try it sometime... 😁
