I’m not sure what others are experiencing, but my time in the alpha so far has been plagued with frustrations.

For one, it seems like frame generation isn’t working. Turning it on and off has no effect. Sitting at JFK in the Cessna, I get 60fps with ultra settings and 4K. In 2020 with PMDG and inbuilds, I would get over 100fps using the same settings. Using DLSS seems to resolve the issue, but it has the side effects that it has always had with blurry screens.

I’m also noticing terrible stutters. Adjusting rolling cache, turning it on/off seems to have no impact. What blows my mind is some are swearing by performance gains and less stutters, but those of us with high end PCs seem to be plagued with the opposite, or at least that’s what I’m seeing on discord. Several folks with 4090s reported no frame generation and stutters upon stutters.

In the controls menu, what I done was have my sensitivities at sensitivities at -0.8 and outdeadzone and 0.6. But adjust it to your controllers liking, the outdeadzone is the one that done it for me.

@Fielder seen your post after I posted, but try the outdeadzone setting, thats what helped me, 0.6 is what I have mine set at.

Yes, that did the trick. Thanks.

From what it looks like to me, ground tessellation is not included in the Alpha? The ground is not getting better as I get closer to the ground.

Stutters: Turn off "real world live air traffic". Its nice that 2024 can plot every plane in the nearby sky, but I was at London City and its busy in the real world right now. It defaults to ON. I thought photogrammetry was the issue. It wasn't.

Yeah, turned that off and was still getting stutters.

I finely got it to download on my end.  I followed the directions to the "T" and waited the 10 minutes.  After waiting it started working and was able to download it!

Downloading pretty fast.  I estimate maybe 10 minutes total!

Yeah there’s a lot of world detail missing in this build. No power lines, wind turbines, cooling towers, ski lifts, vegetation, rocks etc. etc. Just flew to the Isle of Wight and the Needles are missing!

how is the new flight model and new ground handling?

I didn't test that enough yet, but my initial flight with the C172 felt very satisfying, more so than with MSFS2020. It feels nicer, more inertia that I thought the 2020 version was lacking. I can't wait to spend the whole day tomorrow flying. especially ground handling.

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

I love the weight you feel, and even on the ground, the weight and skidding etc.

multiplayer "convert incoming voice to text" and "translate" options.

Multi monitor option in settings but not ready to use yet.

The 3D trees are nice, not blocky anymore.

I think the "join" option ends in 2 days. You don't need an invite email (somebody posted how to join without that, above).

all controller mappings are blank.

I think we now have individual controller settings per aircraft. I don't think we had that in MSFS2020?

The photogrammetry in the alpha is interesting

It has the new Grand Canyon and monument valley photogrammetry, but still the old LA photogrammetry, not the new stuff seen in trailer 2

it also has none of the world update photogrammetry

Warning bug (at least for me). If I change planes and then change back to the original plane, then all the controller settings I mapped before on the original plane were erased!! So choose from the 3, and keep it.  The Cub, 172, Hornet F-18.
