October 16, 20241 yr I know some will already have seen this little video I made, as I posted it some time ago. However, as I think everyone likes a good mystery, I thought I'd post it here again. But please guys, don't tell me I'd been drinking, or they were shooting stars, or that it was a plane coming into land! I hope you enjoy my tale... October 16, 20241 yr All the UFO pictures I have seen are videos or pictures of objects in clear skies. Have there ever been pictures of any taken under cloud layers? Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
October 17, 20241 yr I believe you saw exactly what you say that you saw. I have seen a few things in the night sky as well. Most notably, what I thought was a satellite transiting the night sky, only to see it make a very sharp 90 degree turn, so it could not have been a satellite. Most recently, about an hour before daybreak, I was looking out of my bedroom window to check the weather conditions and observed a bright star in the east. Trying to figure out what star it could have been, I saw it move, then disappear into a cloudless sky. What are these things that are observed in our skies? That is the question that remains unanswered. October 17, 20241 yr So, this 25000 mile wide UFO is plunging through the Sun in hardly more than a second. The Sun is 865000 miles in diameter, but since the UFO is punching through it at a relatively high latitude, let's call it 400000 miles to be on the safe side. That's still twice the speed of light. October 17, 20241 yr I have never seen anything in the sky that I couldn't identify. That does NOT mean that there isn't anything up there, just that I've never seen it. I have seen a lot of interesting things. I remember Echo 1. It was super-bright and moved quickly. Once I was looking through a friend's telescope and saw what must have been a spinning satellite, possibly a communications satellite. Once I was observing Mars through some good binoculars and saw the ISS pass by. The best was just natural sky. I took my wife's sister out to near Gilmer Texas way out in the boonies away from light pollution. It was a long drive in the dark, and when I got there and got out of the car and looked up, the September sky was just incredible, very clear. I saw two distinct colors/brightnesses in the Milky Way. I looked around and found Andromeda. it was huge, and I swear I could see arms in the galaxy. The best pictures I can find of Andromeda show it to be 2.5 degrees across, 5 times the width of the full moon. The outer rim might be mistaken for galactic arms. I didn't see much else in the sky that night because of the tears in my eyes. I was relating this to an online friend who had done work in Saudi, and he said he had gone to the Empty Quarter to watch a meteor shower once. He said the Milky Way was so bright it interfered with observing the meteors. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

I wonder how many more members of Avsim have seen mysterious things and not revealed there experiences. Edited October 17, 20241 yr by martin-w
