If you didn't get to see the Alpha, it looks like this.

I had stutters at first and scenery loading and unloading every half minute or so. Until I learned to just sit and do nothing after clicking on Fly. Wait a couple minutes and then no stutters. No scenery loading in and out all the time. None of that. 2024 seemed very stable but I had to wait for the cloud before starting a flight. After that initial wait, the cloud was always loading in advance and scenery didn't pop the whole flight. The dull colors were the new fall colors which went away when I changed the calendar to June.

Not impressed by the videos, not enough to jump from my modded MSFS 2020 build yet.

In the video he used Fall calendar and set the clouds to overcast which made everything look sort of dull.

I would love to see a photo of your two screens w/ NV surround working, or a total screen shot if that is possible.

Forgot if anyone mentioned/showed this before.. for those of you who used the tech alpha, did you guys see any cirrus clouds in live weather?

A saw a few.

The problem is my Pimax Crystal Light won't start if I'm using NV surround and two big screens. My GPU can't handle that and the PCL at the same time. So I have no VR, which is how I normally fly starting 2 or 3 months ago after I got the headset. Therefore I'm only using 1 big screen and tiny 15" 780p auxiliary screen.

When I try changing the number of screens that boot up it takes me a half hour to get it working. I have to keep plugging and unplugging again and again and again until finally for some reason it works.

I ought to change my sig I guess. My gpu only has 12 GB and can't run a whole bunch of screens and VR at the same time. If I didn't have a VR set, I would only fly in double wide 32:9. I'm a GA flier because I want to see the rendered world and not the clouds. 2,500 feet is my upper limit no matter how far I fly. I'm not going to hit another plane except virtually, so it's safe. Double wide is almost as glorious as VR.

I saw a few cirrus clouds as well during the tech alpha. The only annoying thing that happened to me was a 3-10 sec pause at random times during my flights. I attribute it to the alpha since I have a 1gig internet connection. Was overall impressed even with that being so bare bones.

By the way, the multiple screens options in the Alpha was no longer called "experimental" so I guess it works better now. I did not try it.

I don't know how NV Surround works.  If I had two identical 34" curved displays how would I position them and what would it look like if you will?

Yes, the two should be identical so the image color are the same on both. It's almost impossible to match two that are not.

Nvidia surround in NCP walks you through the process. The key is bezel correction. Without that a round gauge on the plane's panel is no longer round because of the two bezels in between. Every image that overlaps the bezels will look odd, not just covered up but also strange shape.

Surround sound bezel correction removes right hand edge of the image from the left monitor and left hand edge from the right monitor. So the scene looks 100% natural except the bezel blocks out a strip.

The built in app shows a diagram to set up the correction number value but to get it right you need a round image, I use a red circle and drag it over and set it with the bezel running down the center. When the circle looks round then you have the exact correct BC number.

After NCP sets it up you still have to do one thing: change the resolution away from 5140x1440. There will be a new choice for resolutions in Display Options which is larger than 5140x1440 because you have added in bezel correction. If you added in 45 for bezel correction in the NCP app then the new choice offered would be 5185x1440 and you have to reset Display Setting resolution to that value.

Also, once you have Nvidia Surround running, then MSFS display options in MSFS will have 2 new offerings above the 2160x1440 that used to be the largest MSFS offered. Now in addition, 2 more will be listed in MSFS option choices: 5140x1440 and 5185x1440. Choose 5185x1440. It will be different if your BC number is not 45. You have to fiddle with the BC number to get a round picture look round when overlapping the 2 screens.

When not in MSFS leave the settings alone and you just have a wider desktop which is handy for keeping two large files side by side to compare them, and so forth.

You position the screens to be pushed together, side by side and raised to the same height so that if forms one large image in Windows, or in MSFS.

Arizona actually looks like Arizona! I'm excited.  But.. they will probably mess up the locations of the actual saguaro biome and put it all over the desert southwest instead of just in Arizona, Sonora and a bit of Baja.  maybe I'm wrong, hopefully I am wrong.

The trees and environment are so much better.

He was flying in an area where there has been no special graphics applied, just normal default scenery. I saw pretty much the same thing in the Alpha.

I’ve flown out of Oban a number of times in 2020, ok so STUFF is turned off - which might explain why apart from seasons it looks the same imo
