October 30, 20241 yr Yeah, unless the reports are exceptional on any Alpha release, i will be giving them i wide swerve. Some seem to remain in this state for months after the launch, with only the eye candy being improved, yet navigation, or systems missing. October 30, 20241 yr Perhaps we need a new method for early access. It could be rated according to approximate time to completion. So, for example, an EA12 would mean at least 12 months before stable, and an EA1 would mean one month before stable release. This would provide potential users with a more granular view of where a project stands.

My guess is they don't know (when it will be finished) and couldn't do EA1 / EA12 etc. with any accuracy, or at least they wouldn't want to pin themselves down to, say EA2 and then not deliver it in two months. Good idea but I can see multiple current early access/alpha/beta/pre-order etc addons being designated "EA∞" forever..... Russell Gough SE London

I've been thoroughly burned by the vast majority of EA projects in FS20 that I've participated in, so same, hard pass for now on any of these.
October 30, 20241 yr Fair to say that no system is perfect. My fear is that as this early access become the norm, so will scammers come along and sell us a half backed product that they don't care if it's never completed. They made their money and move on. Microsoft has a reputation to uphold, and a bit of pressure on less than honest developers is not unreasonable. I hope that the "rental" option coming in 2024 will sort this out.

I will say the Flysimware Lear is stellar, but it was already great on day 1 of early access so it was a low-risk buy. Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light

I agree, there's some very good dev's as mentioned above that really do what they promise. The trouble is, knowing which stand by their promises, and those that have little or no intention of doing so. October 31, 20241 yr The alpha should explicitly state the expected final product, and if the developer fails to deliver as specified, normally, there will be legal consequences. Or you base any decision to buy on what's available now and if that isn't good enough for you yet then you wait until it is.

The cynic in me would point out this quickly spreading EA model is a crafty way to completely avoid all consumer protection laws. Everything soon may be sold 'as is'. Russell Gough SE London
