I was stationed in Belgium for a few years, and what you described was pretty much the entire winter there.

When I worked at the Pentagon, we moved the branch I ran down to the AF command center in the basement for several months during the winter while they renovated our part of the building.  I got to work in the dark, and left work in the dark, with no windows to let the sun in while I was there.  Yup...it was depressing, as if working in the five-sided prison on the Potomac wasn't depressing enough!  😉

Bob, I am a belgian citizen but now, being retired, I spend most of the year in Spain, you understand why. I used to manage in Europe a Denver based medical company, and used to travel to Lakewood 5-6 times a year  I remember The Denver Post had a sentence under their headline saying "It is a priviledge to live in Colorado. How true, you lucky man! Colorado used to be my second hometown.

Last week in the Channel Islands it was 13c clouds mixed with sunshine.

Misty all day today and 11c.

Further south than the UK, of course, 30 miles from France and 70 miles from the UK. Snow is rare and warmer than UK.

I was in the Richmond District from 1972-1983.  For the 10 years before 1983 I have a great 1 bedroom apartment at 22nd Ave. and Geary Blvd ($175 per month).  Bought my house in Glen Park in '83 till present.

Same here. I had a studio at 4544 Cabrillo. Bought my house at Westwood Park in 1980 till present. It's about a mile from the Glen Park BART station which I used for many years.

Thanks.

Does anyone know if a list of LOCAL flysim enthusiast groups exist?

Wayback then there were groups for PC enthusiasts eg.  SFPCUG (San Francisco PC Users Group).  They'd meet periodically in an auditorium and had speakers and demos. I learned a lot of things.

How has the discussion changed to this? Now’t to do with sunshine or the lack of it. 🙁

Sorry.  Because we were chatting about weather --> neighborhood weather --> local groups for neighborhoods.

Strange but true. In Norway there is a TV channel that broadcasts a fireplace fire. And another that shows the trout jumping up the falls to spawn when the annual run begins. I was reading a forum where the Swedes were laughing about what the Norwegian TV ratings showed the Nordics gather around and watch.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, 1440p 32" screen, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, CH Flightstick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR (the best VR)!

Having had my motorcycle trips thwarted all summer by bad weather I’m now laughing.

I set off this morning from the midlands ,and I’m currently overnighting in a Castle just south of the Scottish border ( that’s what we do in Britain, it’s quite normal 😉)

Tomorrow I’ll be riding up to Northern Scotland where the forecast is promising 4 days of sunshine and 15C, the only place in the UK to have any sun at all !

And best of all, being November  there’ll be no midges or tourists to get in my way, I can actually book hotels as well , they’re normally booked up weeks in advance in summer.

Everything comes to he who waits, it seems.

Despite my earlier comments about gloomy Nov-Dec weather here in the northeastern US, we have had an unusually warm and dry fall season so far. Last week in New York State it reached over 80 degrees F (27 C) and today, Nov 5th it is 72F (22C), and bright and sunny.

Yes indeed. We have very warn snow. In fact it's so warm it turns into rain so we never knew it was snow in the first place. Luckily, our hyper intelligent cats inform us about such things.
