November 22, 20241 yr Guys reading some of the doom and gloom posts about performance got me to thinking. This new sim has to run efficiently on XBOX and other platforms 2020 was released to (Microsoft's primary target audience) let alone the PC market. It's crazy to me to have any serious concern/conversations about 2024's performance in this initial build knowing this. Microsoft will poop on themselves if Asobo left the sim in this initial state. When it's all said and done 2024 should out perform 2020. If history serves us in dealing with Asobo, all that we don't like about this initial build will be corrected and improved upon. I myself don't plan on jumping in on this sim until Feb or June 2025. I need them to get VR sorted out and optimized first. I feel for people who ran out and bought this as I knew from that Alpha if no more test versions were released this was going to be a mess (it always is when proper QA testing isn't done). Trying to run something solely over the internet as a thin client needs allot of testing before release which wasn't done. Asobo has to make this right for the XBOX customer and we (PC users) benefit from that... 😏 Edited November 22, 20241 yr by Dillon FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
November 22, 20241 yr Of course they will work on improving performance, but let's not act like it was totally normal to release a game / sim with bad performance and only start working on it after release. Just like it was *not* normal to have most people not being able to enter the game (let alone play it without any bandwidth issues) for 24h-48h after release. The amount of people that just smile off no matter what MS/Asobo throws their way is astonishing. (This isn't directed to you, more a general notion) For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
November 22, 20241 yr There does seem to be a lot of nashing of teeth when we’re only in day 4… … but what’s new on this forum! edit: i.e. see above…😁 Edited November 22, 20241 yr by Los
November 22, 20241 yr On the flip side you have those boasting about loading times and how quick the sim starts yet talk to us in 6 months when we have a bunch of add-ons and compilations happening while the sim loads. Just adding PMDG in 2020 completely changed the sims load times immensely. Drawing any conclusions 4 days in is near impossible and silly to your point. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

I won't believe you until I see it It's stutters for you (and maybe others), not everyone. That was Krakin's point. I get better FPS in 2024 with 2020 airports. Like FlyTampa's KLAS, I'd get 50-60 FPS in 2020, in2024 I'm getting 90-100 With Framegen mind you. Edited November 23, 20241 yr by Tuskin38
November 23, 20241 yr I don’t get it either. Yeah, initially the launch was a shambles, for all of us although some more than others. Some people are just wetting themselves with anger though, demanding people be fired, demanding refunds, saying the team have no right to be proud of this piece of @#*%, saying this is the end for MSFS, or they’re gonna quite all MS products for good, all over early launch teething problems. Children I could understand it from, but adults… i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
November 23, 20241 yr I don't get why people still buy things on launch day. In this day and age, and with the age of the average flight simmer, it's certain that y'all have had enough experience with previous titles, flight sim and otherwise to understand that anything highly anticipated is ALWAYS a poop show on day one. Sure, some are better dealt with than others, but there's always something. Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky are beloved titles now. they weren't on release, lol. Hell there's always some snafu on relatively simple product launches like PMDGs. FOMO needs to be better dealt with by 99 percent of people, I feel confident in saying. And, ironically enough, if John Q. Public WOULD deal with their FOMO rationally, and not bum rush the servers all at once, it would fix or mitigate nearly every issue that causes this stuff to begin with. I'm excited for this sim, I've bought it. I'll install it at some point soon. it'll be a bit before it's everything I need it to be, just like every other sim I've ever bought.
November 23, 20241 yr Pre buying and installing every sim on day 1 (except XP) has been my go-to since FS2000 and every sim variant since then. No complaints here, just go in to it knowing that of course there is going to be bugs and issues. But there's also going to be the fun of learning and developing yourself with the new sim. What bugs me to no end is that you hear so much complaining and whining that these new sims should be so much better. Designed around the latest and greatest new coding techniques etc, yet then complain and whine even louder that their addons they bought 3-8 years ago aren't compatible when it does come out. So far I'm quite impressed overall with 2024, definitely more than I have been after the first few days of 2020 or any other major sim release in the past 20 years. It's no where near perfect, but it has a ton of potential. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024
November 23, 20241 yr My specs not so great. I just finished a flight. Not a single stutter. DLSS Quality, Preset Ultra, both LOD's 200. I have no idea what the fps was however. I loved it. Everything looked nicer than 2020, especially the skies. I was flying down low to watch the great scenery. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. November 23, 20241 yr As usual, I was flying in May.
